Has your life been touched by someone with Autism....

April is Autism Awareness month.

There was recently a study released by the CDC that states that now 1 in 88 children have autism. My son, Christian, now almost 11 years old was diagnosed in kindergarten and I would not trade him for anything in the world. My family, like many families know how important it is for research to continue and educate the community about autism. Families, teachers, and medical professionals need your help for our children and the future.

Believe it or not Autism is anything new...There is no known single cause for autism, but it is generally accepted that it is caused by abnormalities in brain structure or function. Brain scans show differences in the shape and structure of the brain in children with autism versus neuro-typical children.

There are a variety of symptoms and degrees of autism.

There are many famous people that are suspected with autism or have some autistic characteristics. Some of them are Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Mark Twain, Emily Dickinson, Beethoven, Van Gogh, Mozart, Thomas Jefferson, and Thomas Edison.
There are some people that have severe autism and cannot communicate or function well or what would be considered "normal". With more research and community help...we can help people with autism lead fuller, more complete lives.

If you can help us reach and even exceed our goal..thank you so much.

If you are near San Antonio please join us on Saturday, April 14 for the 8th Annual Walk for Autism. This is the first time that I have participated in this event..From what I understand it is a 2 mile walk that will start at the AT&T Center and continue to Sombrill. Starting March 30 it will be $20 for the walk.
