San Antonio Walk for Autism - SpecZACHular

In 2007 we were given the news that our oldest child had Autism, and our journey down this new path in life began. I can't say that there haven't been hard times or that we haven't felt overwhelmed. We lived in a remote area with very few services when he was diagnosed. We had just had our second child and life was quite busy. We are also a military family and that adds an extra ingredient in the mix.
But, I also knew that the people who were telling me all the things he wouldn't be able to do in life, didn't know him, didn't know me and didn't know how much you can do with a lot of love.
Zachary has come so far in the past 5 years. He has worked so hard at therapy and at school and most of all in life. He is amazing, smart and so vey well loved. We have been so blessed with lots of love and support over the years. He has had fantastic therapists and teachers helping to guide him. We know how lucky we are for how well he has done. And I wouldn't change him even if I could, because he is my Zachary just as he is, and he is amazing.
With more and more children being diagnosed every day and no cause or cure to be found, we hope that we can do something by walking this year as a team. We want to raise awareness that having Autism can mean a lot of things. That people need to be aware and compassionate. That we need to keep looking for answers. Please join our team to walk on April 14th in Honor of Zachary. If you can't walk, please consider donating, even a small amount.
