5K Race Inormation |
Entry fee includes t-shirt. ***Registrants 11/14/11 and later may not recieve an event shirt from this year.*** The race is tentatively scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. on November 19, 2011. It will start outside to give the runners time to spread out before they enter the mine. The end will be within the cave to avoid any shock that may accompany running from an indoor environment into what will likely be a chilly November climate. Walkers are welcome to compete as well.

Entry fee includes t-shirt. ***Registrants 11/14/11 and later may not recieve an event shirt from this year.*** The race is tentatively scheduled to start at 10:45 a.m. on November 19, 2011. The entire race will take place within the mine. All ages are welcome. Walkers are welcome to compete as well. This race will not be timed.

Directions |
From the North: Head South on I-55. Get off on Exit 175 (Hwy A) and make a left. Hang a left onto Hwy 61/67, which runs in front of the Wal-Mart. At the second light, the one near Dairy Queen, make a right onto Bailey Road. Follow it through up to Mississippi Ave. Turn right and follow the fence on your left until you come to a double gate. The gates should be open, and someone should be there to direct you to parking. If not, proceed down the gravel drive, across the bridge, and through the tunnel. As you enter the tunnel, turn on your lights.
From the South: Head North on I-55. Get off on Exit 175 (Hwy A) and make a right. From there, just follow the directions above.

Spectators |
Because we don't have the resources to light an entire mine, spectators may want to bring a flashlight. Also, old tennis shoes are recommended as you'll be walking around in sand, and the temperature can be slightly nippy for those not actively running, so you may want to bring a jacket.

Weather |
Since the course is mostly under cover, rain and cold weather shouldn't be a problem. However, a blizzard that shuts down roads will likely shut down the race.
