Who are PD Walkers? |
The PD Walkers team was formed in 2008 with the hopes of raising awareness, increasing education, and providing support to patients and family members who live with Parkinson's disease.
The 2008 and 2009 PD Walkers teams consisted of 58 and 53 members, fundraised over $15,000 and made that donation to the IA Chapter of the APDA which supports the IA Information and Referral Center of Iowa. The I&R Center provides support and resources to the entire state of Iowa and parts of Missouri.

What is PD? |
Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder affecting more than a million Americans today. A person with PD gradually loses the ability to totally control their body movements. The symptoms of PD include tremors or trembling; difficulty maintaining balance and coordination; trouble standing or walking; stiffness; general slowness and many other "non-visible" symptoms. Currently there are medications and surgeries to help lessen some of the symptoms, but there is no cure.

Mission of PD Walkers |
Our mission is to bring awareness and raise funds for the Parkinson's disease cause in search of a cure. Until a cure for PD is found, those diagnosed, live with a lifelong diagnosis, but can live without PD taking away their lives. PD Walkers wants to spread the word, that even though you may have PD, PD does not have you.
