About The Event |
When was the last time you were able to go for a stroll on an airport tarmac?
With the Special Olympics Indiana Runway Run presented by Anthem, now you can! A new event, held in conjunction with the FedEx Plane Pull Challenge, the Runway Run features a unique, 7.27 K-as in Boeing 727 aircraft-course through the airport grounds at the former Indianapolis International Airport at 2500 S. High School Road, just off Sam Jones Expressway. The event will also feature a one mile fun run / walk perfect for all members of the family!
After the run, join in the excitement of the Plane Pull Challenge to benefit Special Olympics Indiana. Watch the competition and cheer on your favorite team, visit the carnival area, browse the static aircraft displays, check out the health-related activities brought to you by Anthem, grab a bite to eat, or just sit back and enjoy a day on the tarmac.
The run will begin at 8:30 AM and depart from the Plane Pull competition area between what was concourses C and D at the former Indianapolis Airport terminal.
Individuals raise just $25 to participate, with a special award for the Top Individual Fundraiser. Participants will receive a souvenir event t-shirt and the satisfaction of supporting Special Olympics Indiana without pulling a plane!

Family Fun Festival |
When you're not scoping out the competition, enjoy a variety of activities at the Family Fun Festival. A festive atmosphere will include music, games and more!

Torch Run Tent |
Get your chance to win a 2010 Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide Motorcycle in Vivid Black! Tickets will be on sale for $10 each with proceeds to benefit Special Olympics Indiana. Also, make sure to stop by the Torch Run Tent before 10 a.m. to register your child for the Kid's Exhibition Pull!

Static Displays and Food Vendors |
A variety of aircraft will be on display for viewing and photo opportunities, and various food vendors will be on site offering food and drinks available for purchase.
