8k Run |
The 25th Annual Alliant Energy Fifth Season 8K is THE Fourth of July event for competitive road racing in the Midwest. The race is a certified USA Track & Field 8K Run. The RACE is on July 4th celebrating 25 years!!
The start is at Mays Island, 3rd Avenue Bridge. Start time is 7:30 a.m. The scenic and rolling course takes runners through historic neighborhoods of southeast Cedar Rapids. The course features an out-and-back segment on Blake Boulevard allowing runners to view the lead runners as they make their way past the Bever Park turnaround point. Runners then wind their way back downtown on 2nd Avenue to a straight-away downhill finish near the Alliant Energy Tower.
Participants receive a commemorative Brooks brand moisture management shirt, course entertainment, and fabulous post-race party. Entry fee is $25-$35 depending on date of entry. No race day registration. Packet pickup only race day.

USA Only Prize Money (Based on Gun Times) |
$12,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top ten USA male and female overall finishers in the 8K race as follows: 1st - $ 2,000, 2nd - $1,000, 3rd - $800, 4th - $600, 5th - $400, 6th - $350, 7th - $300, 8th - $250, 9th - $200, 10th - $100.
$1,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top three USA master male and female runners to finish the 8K race as follows: 1st - $250, 2nd - $150, 3rd - $100.
$3,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top five State of Iowa male and female runners to finish the 8K race as follows: 1st - $500, 2nd - $400, 3rd - $300, 4th - $200, 5th - $100.
$1,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top three Local County male and female runners to finish the 8K race as follows: 1st - $250, 2nd - $150, 3rd - $100.
Prize money eligibility rules:
Prize money will be awarded according to USA Track & Field rules. Finisher must be a United States citizen to be eligible for overall, masters, state or county prize money. Please complete Form W-9 with your entry to receive prize money $600 or more. Overall top ten finishers are eligible for master, state or county prize money. Top three master finishers are eligible for state or county prize money. Top local county finishers are eligible to receive State of Iowa prize money. Local county finishers include residents of Linn, Johnson, Cedar, Jones, Delaware, Buchanan, Benton, and Iowa counties. Master finisher is age 40 and over. No prize money is awarded for the 5K Fun Run/Walk.
High School and NCAA athletes are ineligible to receive prize money. Overall prize money will be forfeited. The next eligible finisher will receive State of Iowa or Local County finisher prize money.
State and county prize money winners ONLY: race officials will contact you and ask that you send proof of residency (current driver license, utility bill, or phone bill) within one week following the race before award money is distributed.

Age Division Awards |
Awards for male and female age divisions in the 8K race are as follows: 15 & under (top 3), 16-19 (top 3), 20-24 (top 6), 25-29 (top 6), 30-34 (top 6), 35-39 (top 6), 40-44 (top 6), 45-49 (top 6), 50-54 (top 5), 55-59 (top 4), 60-64 (top 3), 65-69 (top 2), 70 & over (top 1). All overall top ten finishers and top three master finishers are ineligible for age division awards in the 8K race.

Team Competition and Awards |
Team divisions in the 8K comprise of men and women categories in open and masters divisions. To ensure each member is entered correctly, the team name of each runner must be exactly the same. Teams consist of at least four runners. The top members score on a total time basis using gun time. Teams are a great way to create camaraderie with your running friends.
8K open and masters team prize money for both USA men and women are $150 for top team and $100 for runner-up team. All 8K teams will be timed with team name, top team members, and combined team score posted.

5k Fun Run/Walk |
The start is at Mays Island, 3rd Avenue Bridge. Start time is 8 a.m. The Alliant Energy Fifth Season 5K Fun Run/Walk is a non-competitive event giving you the chance to get out with friends, stretch your legs, and enjoy an Iowa morning. The course takes runners through historic neighborhoods of southeast Cedar Rapids. Runners and walkers then wind their way back downtown on 2nd Avenue to a straight-away downhill finish near the Alliant Energy Tower.

Youth Mile Run |
The Alliant Energy Fifth Season Youth Mile Run is a competitive run for kids ages 7-14 and begins at 9 a.m., at Mays Island, 3rd Avenue Bridge. The youth mile run is underwritten by the RPC Charitable Foundation of Iowa City. All kids will be timed and receive a commemorative 25th anniversary race medal for finishing. Entry fee is $10. No race day registration. Packet pickup will close July 4 at 8 a.m. Trophies for boys and girls age divisions in the youth mile race are as follows: 7-8 (top 5), 9-10 (top 5), 11-12 (top 5), 13-14 (top 5).

Kids' Fun Run |
The Alliant Energy Fifth Season Kids' Fun Run for kids ages 10 and under begins at 9:30 a.m., at Mays Island, 3rd Avenue Bridge. The kids' fun run is underwritten by KCRG TV-9 & Show You Care Sponsors. The staggered age group start begins with the youngest age division: kids 5 and under run 200 yards and kids 6 to 10 run a quarter mile. All kids receive a commemorative 25th anniversary race medal for finishing. Parents may run with their children and strollers are welcome! Sorry, no pets allowed. Entry fee is $5. Race day registration and packet pickup will close at 8 a.m.

A parade just for kids! No need to register. Just line up on the 3rd Avenue Bridge on May's Island and let the good times roll up to 3rd St SE and over to 2nd Avenue for a big finish at 2nd Avenue & 2nd Street. Come enjoy this red, white & blue extravaganza as the kids show us all how to celebrate America with wagons, big wheels, roller blades and bikes. For details, visit www.kcrg.com.

Fifth Season Expo - Registration and Packet Pickup will be held at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel, 350 1st Avenue NE, on July 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration (Kids Fun Run only) and Packet Pickup (All Races) will be held at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel on July 4th from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Shirts and numbers for all entrants can be picked up at these times. Merchandise vendors will be on site.
25th Anniversary Race Social and 8K Runner Panel:
The Cedar Valley Running Association is hosting the 25th Anniversary Race Social and 8K Runner Panel on July 3rd at the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel. Social at 6:30 pm followed by program. The program will highlight past 8k race winners. The 8k Winner's Panel will include Kris Ihle-Helledy (1997, 1998, 2000, 2001 winner), Keith Brantly (1987, 1988), Bonnie Sons (1994, 2000) and Nan Doak-Davis (1986, 1989). The social and program is free to runners, walkers and the public.
The VIP Dinner (now moved to 5:30 pm) fee is $15 per person ($5 for kids age 12 and under). To make your VIP dinner reservation, please go to www.fifthseasonrace.com. The public is invited.

Post-Race Parties |
After the race, let the fun begin at our post-race parties!! Enjoy plenty of food, drink and family fun along 1st Street SE near the Alliant Energy Tower and along the 2nd Avenue Bridge overlooking the Cedar River. Complimentary massages are available. Our fabulous Fifth Season awards ceremony begins in Ballroom I & II of the Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel at 10:30 a.m.
"Rock the Ramp!!" Adults (free of charge for registered entrants, sponsors and volunteers age 21+ only) enjoy the hospitality of the Cedar Rapids Jaycees, live music provided by the O'Connell Brothers Band, and refreshments provided by Fleck Sales-Miller Lite at the United Fire Group - Top of the Parking Ramp. Finishers must show their race number and be prepared to show a photo ID to receive alcohol.

Electronic Chip Timing |
All runners in the 8K, 5K and Youth Mile will be provided a chip which must be affixed to your shoe and returned after you finish. You will be timed according to gun time. Failure to wear or return your chip will result in disqualification. There is a $10 charge for chips not returned. Refer to the back side of chip for mailing address if chip not returned after finish.

Accomodations |
Crowne Plaza Five Seasons Hotel is offering a special rate of $89 plus tax per night to Fifth Season guests wishing to stay overnight between the dates of July 3 and July 4. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel directly at 319-363-3181. You must identify yourself as a member of the Fifth Season Race (group reference code FSR) and guarantee the reservation by June 21.

Donations |
The race will contribute a percentage of its total revenues (in addition to specific monies raised) to the Cedar Rapids Community Foundation and to Mercy Hospice House. Please join us in raising funds by writing a separate check to Cedar Rapids Community Foundation or to Mercy Hospice House with your race entry.
Download a contribution form at www.fifthseasonrace.com and record sponsorships from family and friends. Contribution form and monies must be turned in by packet pickup July 3. We will remit these donations as quickly as possible.
Entrants and sponsors over the past four years have donated in excess of $17,000 to these organizations.
Major Iowa races and Iowa runners at those races support Runablaze Iowa.
