3:00 PM - Metal Theft Symposium |
This is a FREE event open to all ISRI Members, Non-Members and Law Enforcement.
'Barny Fife' vs 'Sanford & Son' : Dispelling Myths and Finding Common Goals.
Studies have confirmed that when commodity prices increase, thefts of metal and other recyclable materials rise as well. ISRI and its members have long been committed to being a part of the solution to this problem. Our experience shows that partnerships among key stakeholders including recyclers and law enforcement are the most effective way to address this critical problem in our communities.
The problem is, recyclers and police often don't communicate - sometimes don't even know how to communicate - with one another. This often humorous, sometimes serious symposium, led by former detective and now ISRI's National Law Enforcement Liaison Gary Bush, explores the different perceptions that law enforcement and recyclers have about one another, dispelling many common stereotypes (while possibly confirming others), and discusses the many opportunities available to work together toward catching criminals and reducing the incidence of material theft. Gary will also demonstrate the tools available to recyclers and cops that are proving to make a difference.
Members are strongly encouraged to invite their local police agencies to participate in this meeting that has shown many positive results in communities across the country.
