General Information

Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 8:00 AM CDT

Raffle prizes will be given out during awards, so make sure you put your completed ticket in the raffle box before leaving the registration area. NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFER OF NUMBERS. Baby joggers and/or strollers, headphones, animals, bicycles, skateboards, roller blades/skates or other wheeled objects are NOT ALLOWED on the course. Indiana HS CC runners are eligible to run the race. Do not leave personal items in the school during the race. The school will NOT be open after the race. Restrooms will be available in the lower level (west) entrance of the DeMotte Public Library after 8:00 AM - chip timing - $30 charged for lost or unreturned chip.

Registration and Entry Fees

Each registrant must fill out a separate entry form. Price includes a Sport Science Smarter sleeveless shirt.

Pre-Registered (through August 5) - $16.00

Pre-Registered Family Fee (child 14 and under with a $16 parent registration, through August 5) - $12

Pre-Registered Gold Cup Runners deduct $2.00; no Gold Cup discounts allowed with family entry or for those who register on race day.

Online Registration
A 6% plus $0.89 fee will be added to online entries (for credit card processing).

Race Day Registration (August 6 through race day)
$20.00; t-shirt size not guaranteed for those who register on race day; NO discounts of any kind on race day.

Race Day Registration and Packet Pickup/Check-in

Race day registration and packet pickup / check-in will be at DeMotte Elementary School from 6:45 AM to 7:45 AM.

Post-Race Activities

Refreshments and awards will be at the DeMotte Library's east parking lot.

There will be a pancake breakfast at the United Methodist Church from 6:30 AM - 10:00 AM.

The DeMotte Chamber of Commerce Parade will begin at 10:00 AM.

The DeMotte Town and Country Days Festival will take place behind DeMotte Elementary School.

Directions to DeMotte

from the south
I-65 to Ind. 10 exit (DeMotte/Roselawn) East on Rt. 10 for 3.75 miles, turn north (left) on Rt. 10 for 3 miles (4-way stop). North on 231 approximately 4/10ths of a mile. DeMotte Elementary School is on the left.

from the north
I-65 to Rt. 2 exit (Lowell). Go east (left) on Rt. 2 for 5.5 miles. Turn south (right) on Rt. 231 (flashing red light) for 6-8/10ths of a mile. DeMotte Elementary School is on the right.

from the east
US 30 west to Ind. 49 south, until it intersects with Rt. 10. Turn west (right) on Rt. 10 for 8 miles (also Rt. 231). Follow Rt 231 North around curve for approximately 4/10ths of a mile. DeMotte Elementary School is on the left.

Course

USATF certified course #IN91005MW

The race starts on US 231 at the south end of DeMotte Elementary School. The finish is at the intersection of 9th and Birch Streets (NW side of DeMotte Library). The course is mostly flat. Splits are given at miles 1, 2, and 3. Several water stations are on the 5K course. There is a digital clock at the finish.

Awards

5k Fitness Walk:
Wooden shoes will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers, the oldest finisher, and the first person in each age division.

NOTE TO WALKERS: The course will be monitored. The basic rules of walking will apply - i.e. one foot must be in contact with the pavement at all times. No jogging or running permitted. Anyone who is caught cheating will be disqualified and ineligible for awards. The decision of the monitors will be final.

5k Run:
Wooden shoes will be awarded to the first three male and female finishers; first three finishers in each age division; youngest and oldest finishers; first three finishers in the Clydesdale, Clydesdale Plus, Athena, and Athena Plus divisions. Special awards will be presented to the first male and female finisher in Masters (40-49); Grandmasters (50-59); Seniors (60-69); and Super Seniors (70-up).

8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74 (male), 75 PLUS (male), 70 PLUS (female - 1st place only)

Special Run Divisions (weigh in at packet pickup)

Participants who elect to compete in special divisions are not eligible for age group awards.

Clydesdale - men 190 lbs - 209 lbs
Clydesdale Plus - men 210 lbs and up
Athena - women 135 lbs - 149 lbs
Athena Plus - women 150 lbs and up

Pee Wee Run

The first race begins at 8:55 AM sharp. All pee wee runners must have a parent sign a waiver form on race day between 7:30 and 8:45 AM. Sign ups and races will be at the front door of the Fairchild House, which is the two story brick house directly north of DeMotte Library. Ages 2-10 may participate. Ribbons and goodie bags are awarded to all the runners. This is very low key: no times, places or special awards. The pee wee run is FREE! Distances range from approximately 25 to 300 yards.
