JDRF 5K / 10K (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide, was founded in 1970 by parents of children with juvenile diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin-dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $800 million in direct funding to diabetes research. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research related education.

JDRF is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation. All donations to JDRF and its chapters and branches are tax deducible.

JDRF 5k Run/Walk and 10k Run

Saturday, September 12th, 2009 @ 8:00 AM

Course:
The 5K course begins and ends on at North Hill Medical Center in Burlington. The route takes the participants through historic North Hill along the top of the Mississippi River Bluff. Along with a large number of historic homes, this route passes the Burlington Public Library, Mosquito Park (with it's panoramic view of the Mississippi River Valley) and Snake Alley. Both events will start together and the 10k course will split, loop 5k and return to the 5k course to finish.

Timers will be located at each mile marker and the finish line.

Awards - for 5k and 10k:
Cash prize for male and female overall winners:
1st place = $250
2nd place = $125
3rd place = $50

Age group winners will receive a Hy-Vee gift card.

September 11th, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM
September 12th (race morning) until 7:30 AM.
