Meet Our Wish Children

Ujas has Duchenne's MD (form of muscular dystrophy) and his favorite colors are purple and red. He enjoys watching baseball and cricket. The 7-year-old from Cincinnati likes pasta, pizza, ice cream and chips. His favorite restaurants are McDonald's and LaRosa's. Ujas loves to read and reads often. Ujas told Make-A-Wish volunteers that he wants to travel to Walt Disney World with his family to ride the rides.

Ujas, age 7

Seth is from Harrison, Ohio and has Hodgkin lymphoma (cancer of the lymph nodes). His favorite color is orange and he enjoys watching ESPN's SportsCenter. His favorite team is the Texas Longhorns. He enjoy playing all different kinds of sports and outdoor activities. The 14-year-old likes ribs, star crunch cookies, red velvet cake and going to Red Lobster. Seth told Make-A-Wish volunteers that he wants to take a cruise where he can swim with the dolphins and ride a jet ski.

Seth, age 14

Isabella is a sweet 3-year-old girl who by 2-years-old had already had a bone marrow transplant. Yet, Isabella is resilient. She hasn’t let her leukemia get in her way, she enjoys many of the same activities that other little girls her age do. Isabella loves to play Hide & Seek, hopscotch and she loves to dance! Isabella’s favorite characters are Dora and Mickey Mouse. When Make-A-Wish volunteers asked Isabella and her mother what she wished for they said to meet Mickey Mouse! You can imagine Isabella’s excitement when she learned that her wish will be granted. Soon, Isabella will be swept away to Florida and meeting her favorite character, Mickey!

Isabella, age 3

Marissa, an animal lover, has Hypothalamic Ganglioglioma (Brain Tumor). She was very excited to speak with the Make-A-Wish volunteers about her wish to visit a Florida Theme Park. Marissa hopes that while visiting she’ll be able to meet and attend a tea party with all of the Disney Princesses. Marissa also stated that she’d love it if Hannah Montana could stop by the tea party. Hannah Montana is Marissa’s favorite singer/actress. Aside from Hannah Montana, Marissa loves the eight children of the TV show John & Kate plus eight. Marissa also likes to play hide & seek, snack on M&M’s and watch her favorite football team, the 49ers.

Marissa, age 5

Xavier has Biliary Atresia (Liver Disease). His wish is to visit a Florida Theme Park so that he “can spend special time with his brother and sisters”. When Make-A-Wish volunteers asked Xavier what the one main activity was that he wanted to accomplish on his trip he said that he wanted to have breakfast or lunch with Buzz Lightyear, Woody or even a Princess. Xavier spends his free time like any other 4-year-old boy. He loves playing, swimming, going down big slides and puzzles! Once he’s done playing, and he’s worked up an appetite, Xavier prefers Taco Bell, LaRosa’s or McDonalds and don’t forget…CANDY!

Xavier, age 4

The money you raise will go directly to granting the wishes of Ujas, Seth, Isabella, Marissa and Xavier, children with life-threatening medical conditions. The average value of a wish is $6000. Help us grant their wishes.

The Event

A week-long of events the third week of April that create unity within the University of Cincinnati Fraternity and Sorority Community.

Greek Week = Greek Philanthropy! In 2004, the Fraternity and Sorority Community initiated and developed a strong relationship with the Make-A-Wish Foundation resulting in over $145,000 raised over the past six years.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.

Where Does the Money Go?

The average value of a wish is $6,000. Currently over 125 children are waiting for their wish to be granted in Southern Ohio. It is our goal to assist the Make-A-Wish Foundation in creating memories the family can cherish for a lifetime. The money you raise will help to grant the wishes of these very special, local children.
