- Bib (race number)
- Entry into a chip timed event
- A fun time running/walking with family and friends
- An official Turkey Trot 2019 T-Shirt (prior to registration deadline)
- A chance to win the Turkey Trot trophy or medal for top finishers (by age)
- The opportunity to help feed and clothe the community
WHAT IS "Thanksgiving in July"?
Thanksgiving in July is a communitywide food drive that provides food assistance to the hungry. All funds from the Turkey Trot will benefit NLCP and local families. Thanksgiving in July was created more than fifteen years ago by Mercy Iowa City (Chef Ron Hall) and Hawkeye Foodservice Distribution in Tiffin. The annual food drive continues to expand and benefit thousands of families throughout the community. The 2017 food drive includes food pantries from all over Johnson County and surrounding areas.
More About NLCP
NLCP started in 1985 in a closet of the North Liberty First United Methodist Church. The Pantry provides services and receives support from the entire community. The Pantry averages more than 730 visits per month and distributed more than 320,000 pounds of food and toiletries in 2016. The Pantry also distributed more than 17,000 pieces of clothing.
Donations of food and toiletries are always appreciated. Donations of all types of children's clothing (in season) as well as adult outwear can be made to the pantry. New socks and underwear can be donated and are distributed during special events twice a year at the pantry.
NLCP is a non-profit organization and a portion of your registration is tax deductible.
