Runners, walkers, and defenders of exploited children everywhere come join us as we “Race to Stop Traffick,” Labor Day, September 3, 2018 at 7:30 a.m. at the Terrace in Westlake, Texas. All proceeds from this event will directly benefit Operation Underground Railroad www.OURrescue.org, a non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue and rehabilitate children sold into sex slavery in the U.S. and around the world. There will be a 1-Mile Fun Run as well as an officially timed 5k race. Children 12 and under may participate in the 1-Mile Fun Run at no cost and free professional babysitting will be provided in our Kids Zone during the 5k for the children of race participants. Participants, including families and kids, are welcome to take part in finish line festivities such as carnival games, face painting, live music, and a raffle booth. The course will begin at the Terrace business complex in the city of Westlake and continue along a winding course through lush greenery and some of the nicest homes in the Metroplex. Disposable timing chips will be provided by Chip-2-Chip Race Timing. T-shirts will be given to every participant and prizes awarded to the top finishers in each category. Categories are as follows:

Fun Run Participants
Will receive a t-shirt and race bib and will be able to participate in the Kids Zone. Kids signed in by a parent can have fun jumping on inflatables, face painting, coloring, and participating in a guided warm up while they are waiting for their parents to run their 5k and before they run their own race!
Virtual 5k Participants:
For modern day “Abolitionists” who want to participate in O.U.R. child liberation efforts, but who aren't local, you can participate virtually! As a virtual runner you will choose a 5k course on your own and run it in support of Operation Underground Railroad. You can choose to complete your Virtual Run on September 3rd when the Race to Stop Traffick will be held, or any other day in September that is convenient for you. Your race bib will be mailed to the address you provide. Optional t-shirts will be mailed after the race has taken place. When you have completed your 5k Virtual Run, be sure to update your Facebook and Instagram status to let your friends and family know of your accomplishment! Add the hashtag: #racetostoptraffickdfw

Don't forget to bring your ID for packet pick up and to sign your child into the Kids Zone (must be wearing a kids run bib). Also be sure to stay and enjoy the finish line festivities! Stick around to celebrate your run and this great cause as you snap your picture in front of the O.U.R. backdrop, listen to live music, visit the sponsor booths, give a hand to the runners coming in, cheer on the Kids Run participants, and congratulate the winners at the Awards Ceremony! The director of O.U.R. rescue operations worldwide will be on hand to show videos from recent rescues and to answer any questions you might have about how their undercover “Jump Teams” travel to the darkest corners of the world to save exploited children and get them back with their parents or into vetted safe homes.

T-Shirts are guaranteed to anyone registering by noon on Friday, August 31, 2018. T-Shirts will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis on race day. Get there early! When the they're gone; they're gone!

When is the race?
The event will be held on Labor Day, September 3rd at 7:30 a.m. at The Terrace in Westlake, Texas.
What time should I be there on race day?
To ensure enough time for check in and packet pick up, 1-Mile participants should arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and 5k race participants should arrive between 7:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. (unless packets have been picked up prior to the race). The 1-Mile Fun Run will begin at 8:15 a.m. and the 5k race will begin at 9:00 a.m.
Where is the race?
Both races will begin at The Terrace in Westlake. The parking lot will be clearly marked and parking is free.
Are strollers allowed?
Strollers are welcome, however, be advised that there are curbs and some stretches of packed granite on the course.
What do I get for participating?
All participants will receive a race t-shirt, complimentary race photos to download, tasty snacks to refuel, and the opportunity to participate in family-friendly festivities before and after the run. Children are also invited to our free Kids Zone during the 5k (must wear kids race bib to enter). Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and top three female 5k runners. Top finishing children from the 5k and 1-Mile Fun Run will also be awarded prizes.
Are pets allowed?
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets at this event.
