General Event Details

Adult distances (14 and up): 250 meter swim, 8 mile bike ride, 2 mile run/walk.

Ages 8-10 and 11-13 qualify for the shorter kid's courses.

The older kids (11-13 year olds) distances are: 100 yard swim, 2 mile bike, and 1 mile run.
The younger kids (8-10 year olds) distances are: 50 yard swim, 1 mile bike, and .5 mile run.

All ages are allowed to compete as an individual or a team!

Parking

No parking will be allowed at the Sidney Aquatic Center.

Parking is available and encouraged at the parking lot at WNCC (Western Nebraska Community College). 371 College Drive Sidney, NE 69162. Please do not park on streets. Consider road closures of Fort Sidney that will occur at 6:45 a.m. when planning your and your spectators arrival.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup will be from 5:30-6:30 pm Friday, August 3, at Sidney Regional Medical Center, 1000 Pole Creek Crossing, Sidney, NE and at 6:30-7:00 a.m. Saturday, August 4, at the Sidney Swimming Pool - Friday night pick up is encouraged

Rules

PARKING
Parking is provided and encouraged at: WNCC parking lot (Western Nebraska Community College).
NO PARKING AVAILABLE AT THE SIDNEY AQUATIC CENTER.
NO PARKING ALONG STREETS (INCLUDING COLLEGE DRIVE).

RULES
Bike:
1. A bike helmet must be worn at all times. The chinstrap must be buckled before mounting the bike and may not be unbuckled until rider dismounts bike.
2. No drafting. Keep at least three bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front of you.
3. There are tight turns and steep grades on the course that have been marked. It is your responsibility to stay in your bike lane at all times even if it requires you to slow down or dismount and walk your bike.
4. Absolutely no audio devices allowed on the biking portion of the course.
5. Please ride single file. Pass in a timely manner.
6. After riding your bike, you must return it to the same position on the bike rack it was in before riding.

Swim:
1. You may use any swimming stroke, or you may walk or jog in the water.
2. No hanging on rope lines.
3. No using diving blocks.
4. Spectators aren't allowed in the leisure pool, and they must stay in the designated roped off area.
5. Triathletes ages 8-13 are allowed to go down the slide after the race if they are >48 inches tall.

Hydration:
Two water stations along the course with placement to be announced closer to race day.

Transition Area:
The transition area is the parking lot of the Sidney Aquatic Center and the gravel road leading to Ft. Sidney Road. All participants must return their bicycles to an upright position in the bike area. Glass containers are NOT allowed. No running or biking in the transition area. Participants must walk their bikes to avoid collisions with other participants.

Body Marking:
Please come with your participant number written in permanent marker on your right shoulder and left calf prior to race time.

Bibs:
If on a team, the runner must wear the bib. If an individual participant, the bib must be applied to the clothing that will be worn when crossing the finish line.

Timing:
Ankle chips will be provided at the start of the swim to each swimmer. They must be worn at the ankle the entire race. If you are part of a team, this ankle bracelet will need to be passed on to each team member and donned at the ankle. It is important it is worn correctly in order to ensure splits are retrieved accurately. Also, bibs will be provided. All individual participants and the "runner" on each team will need to wear it.

Please Note:
No pets, strollers, or other child carriers are allowed on the course.
