The Route: Island Adventure

This year bring the family along and map your own Island Adventure! Go on tour for exciting activities and local food trucks planned for each of our river islands. After your ride, meet up at Ride the River HQ at LeClaire Park in Davenport for Survivor-themed games! Kids can collect stickers at each of our four islands, Schwiebert Park in Rock Island, and LeClaire Park. If they collect four or more they get a free slice of pizza after their ride from Streets of Italy, who will be set up at Ride the River HQ.

Credit Island
Osprey have been spotted along the Mississippi and Rock Rivers in our area for the first time in the past few years. These birds like to nest near water. At Credit Island the family can get hands on by helping us build Osprey Boxes, which will be put up near waterways in Scott County to encourage the birds to nest here in the future.

Sylvan Island
We are excited to be back on Sylvan Island after its four-year closure. To help us celebrate the Friends of Off-Road Cycling (FORC) have offered to host their Mountain Biking 101 class for our riders. If you make it down to Sylvan Island you’ll be taught some of the basics of mountain biking and maybe even check out some of the island’s award-winning trails.

Arsenal Island
Ride the River is also making a return to the Arsenal this year. Our stop on the island will be at Memorial Park where you can write letters to veterans and active-duty military.

Campbell’s Island
Learn a little about the War of 1812 on Campbell’s Island. The Daughters of the American Revolution will be putting on a play depicting the Battle of Campbell’s Island next to the monument on the island. River Action will also be roasting s’mores over our fire pit art project nearby.

Boat Crossing

This year you will only be having one crossing on the Celebration Belle.

Sign up now to reserve your spot on the 9:30 crossing, the boat will fill up fast!

Helmets

Helmets are STRONGLY suggested for all Ride the River participants. Helmets are REQUIRED for participants under 18 years of age. Helmets will be available for purchase at packet pick-up on Saturday, or on Sunday at the event, in the LeClaire Park parking lot. Costs will be $5 for a child helmet or $10 for an Adult helmet while supplies last. Helmets are provided courtesy of the QC Bicycle Club.
