A celebration of the creative genius of famous artists and thinkers with serious mental illness.

Beautiful Minds is a brand-new event in central Iowa to raise funds for NAMI Iowa’s work to educate, advocate and empower around mental health issues.

This event creates a nexus between mental health and the arts by featuring local actors portraying famous thinkers from history who had mental illnesses, such as Vincent Van Gogh and Sylvia Plath.
The actors will interact with guests as their characters, first during a reception and then at small dinners hosted in homes across the metro.

5:30-6:45: Reception at Forte in downtown Des Moines with hors d'oeuvres and drinks, a silent auction and a short program. All the actors will be present to mingle with guests and share the beautiful stories of these historical figures.

7:00-9:00: Hosted dinner parties. Guests will have a choice of parties, based on availability.

The silent auction items will be placed online and the bidding will continue throughout the dinner parties.

Ticket price is $ 150 per person, with a Young Professional (< 35 years of age) price of $ 50.

The proceeds from this event will be used for training volunteer teachers, facilitators,and presenters for NAMI signature programs statewide that help people with serious mental illness and their family members to live in recovery and wellness.
