NOTE: Same route as last year. The changes this year - Registration, bib pick up, busses to the start and awards will all be at the Performing Arts Center instead of the former Me Fitness/Integrated Body Fitness. (Or Sam Fit as it is called now)
The Loyalty Days 2 Mile run/walk is simply about having fun! Run, jog, or walk straight down traffic free Highway 101 while hundreds of parade spectators cheer you on! This event supports Lincoln County youth track athletes. Schools with the most entries can win five hundred dollars for their school! Every parent and child that enter together and finish the race will get a team silver shoe charm for each of them.
DATE: Saturday, May, 6th, 2017
TIME: Run starts at 11:45 AM. Same-day registration and number pick-up begins at 9:00 AM at The Performing Arts Center, 777 SW Olive St, Newport, OR. The price for same day registration is $15 plus $8 for a shirt. (Limited availability on the shirts.)
Buses will transport participants to the starting line near Walmart. The last bus will depart from the PAC at 11:15! Hwy 101 will be closed to traffic before the race and will not re-open until the parade is completed. Runners and walkers will travel south down Hwy 101, finishing 2 miles down 101 on the parade route. When participants finish they can enjoy the parade until the 2 PM awards ceremony at the PAC, or pick up their cars there. There will be detours to cross HWY 101 until the parade is over. The course will remain open until the parade reaches it. Runners will be required to leave the street when the parade comes.
Awards will be presented at 2:00 PM at the Performing Arts Center.
All finishers get a ribbon at the finish line! Winner ribbons in age-groups to 3rd place will be given at the awards ceremony. Any parent and child that run together each get a silver shoe-charm for finishing!
