The 15th Annual Grant Wheeler Faith 5K Run/Walk

Grant Wheeler graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1985. Grant was passionate about music, cars, the Green Bay Packers, running, and his family. Married, and the father of two young boys, Grant was killed in a tragic car accident in 2002 preparing to leave to run the Twin Cities Marathon.

In 2003, an Endowment Fund was established to award scholarships annually to area senior distance runners who share Grant's passion for running and his faith, displaying it through strength of character and acts of love and encouragement.

Since 2004 this event has funded 75 scholarships totaling nearly $70,000. This year's race entry fees will go directly to scholarships to be awarded in 2017.

"Of the scholarships I received, this one meant the most because the things Grant loved, I love also.
When you're running you know you're making the most of every single second;  you're not taking
the easy route. I want to live my life for God the same way - pouring out every last bit of strength and
energy to further His kingdom."

Jamie Becker
2016 Scholarship Recipient, CFHS

"I am so humbled and honored to receive a scholarship based on my faith in Jesus. Even though I never knew Mr. Wheeler, I will be forever thankful for the generous scholarship and opportunity to share his legacy and faith."
