On August 13, 2016 beginning at 8:00 am in Springville, Iowa, the Springville Extreme 6K Quarry Run will kick off. Runners will start in downtown Springville, head west of town and traverse a steep descent down into the working Wendling Quarry. While in the depths of the quarry they will travel through a tunnel, blasted through the rock under Highway 151, turn around, come back through the tunnel and back up an aggressive ascent before finishing downtown. Awards will be given for top finishers of the 6K, along with a very sweet soft cotton/poly blend shirt to all paid participants!

With the gracious support of Wendling Quarries, Inc., this event has been organized as a fundraiser to help support the City of Springville's Community Trail Project. The City has completed a trails master plan and is working to develop the trail system in phases. The current focus is with the school district to complete a section of trail that can be used for the running of cross country events and by local walkers and runners. When developed, the trail system will benefit its citizens by providing opportunities for people to get outdoors to walk, run or ride bicycles and be active. A trail system also enhances the land values and lifestyle opportunities of citizens. Thank you for supporting this project and helping to enhance the City of Springville and change people's lives.

Prizes to be awarded for overall male and female winners as well as top 3 in each age group.

Race day registration will be $30 with a t-shirt or $20 without a t-shirt.

Children 11 years of age and under must be accompanied by an adult. No strollers or pets allowed in quarry. In event of inclement weather it will be at the quarry management's discretion whether or not we'll be able to run down into the quarry. Sorry, no refunds.
