Eye Run . . . Will You?
The EYE RUN is an event for the whole family. Eye health is important to everyone, yet many of us rarely think about what we can do to protect our eyes. Participants and guests will learn about eye health, safety, and other facts related to vision. Why? The sight you save may be your own!

COMPLIMENTARY REGISTRATION:
Do you know someone who is blind or visually impaired who would like to participate in the EYE RUN? Christian Record is pleased to offer complimentary registration to people who are blind or visually impaired and their sighted guides. Please contact Jeri Lyn at 402-488-0981 X213 to receive a complimentary registration code.

VIRTUAL EVENT OPTION:
Want to walk or run, but don't live in Lincoln, Nebraska? It's okay! You can register from anywhere in the world and plan to complete your walk or run on October 5. Email a photo giving proof of your completed event to jeri.rogge@christianrecord.org or by posting to Christian Record's page on Facebook by October 30 to receive your shirt (shirt guaranteed if registered by September 1, 2014).

MISSION:
Christian Record Services for the Blind improves the quality of life for blind and visually impaired adults and children by providing free educational and inspirational publications and programs focused on their needs.

HISTORY:
With a clothes wringer, sheets of tin and paper, an awl, and a hammer, a young blind man launched a braille magazine, The Christian Record, in 1899. It now holds the world record for braille magazine production longevity.
The organization moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, from Michigan in 1904 and continues to develop creative ways to brighten the lives of those who can't see.

UNIQUE PROGRAMS:
Christian Record provides new opportunities for persons who are blind or visually impaired. Each year about 100,000 contacts are made with blind individuals as life-changing services are provided to them. All who are blind, legally blind (20/200 with corrective lenses), or have physical impairments that prevent them from holding reading material are eligible for these free services:

Subscription magazines are produced in braille,
large-print, and audio formats.

Full-Vision books combine braille and print so that blind parents can read to their sighted children and sighted parents can help their blind children learn to read braille.

The lending library circulates more than 1,000 book titles on digital audio cartridges. Also some titles are available in braille.

Bible study guides are available in braille, large-print, and audio formats, as well as audio Bibles and sections of the Bible in braille.

National Camps for Blind Children delight campers at locations throughout North America.

Christian Record is an international organization serving blind and visually impaired individuals in approximately 71 countries.
