Race Field

Limited to 600 runners

Race Start/Chip Timing:

You will be seeded into your start corral based on the estimated Lap Time (6.55 Mile Lap) you provide during the registration process. All distances will be combined for the start. For top runners that may be eligible for corral A, we may require proof of time based on past race experience. This will be a chip timed start, your time will start when you cross the line.

Note: There is a good distance to the hole shot at the start, in addition, only the first 800 meters of the course are tight single-track trails. After that it's mostly wider doubletrack type dirt and gravel trails.

Course

The 6.55 mile loop is nearly all single track trail, 1 lap for the Quarter, 2 for Half and 4 for the Full Marathon. This course design allows us to see the runners more frequently and contain the safety and security of the runners more effectively.

FAQS

When does the Summer Night Trail Marathon sell out?
The marathon is limited to the first 600 runners who sign up. Typically our similar events, Winter Night Trail Marathon & Eagle Creek Trail Marathon sell out 2 weeks prior to race day.

What do I get for my entry fee?
A great race, of course! Oh, and yes, all participants will receive unique event shirt and quality finisher medal to share with the office on Monday morning!

Refunds, Transfers, Deferrals and Cancellations
Please be aware that all entries are non transferable and non refundable. Entries are good only for the year they are intended. Entries cannot be deferred from one year to the next and are non-transferable from person to person. This applies whether or not you may be injured, have moved, or any other reason.

Changing your Race Distance
SNTM allows you to change your distance through June 12, 2014, however, a $15.00 fee will be applied to these changes. No changes in race distance can be made after June 12th.
NOTE: You will NOT get a refund if the price of the new registration type is less than that of your current registration type. You will be responsible to pay additional fees if the price of the new type, at its current rate, is more than your current registration type.

Can I register on race day?
If the event is not sold out, race day registration will be available for an additional $5.00 per entry.

RACE DAY:

How long do I have to finish the race?
There is an 8 hour cut off time for the race, however you will not be able to start a new lap after 3:00am.

Can I pick up a friend's packet?
Yes, you can pick up the whole running group.

Will I need a headlamp?
Yes, all runners will be required to have a headlamp at all times.

What if I change my mind after I've started the race - if I don't think I can do the full marathon, can I do the half or quarter instead?
Should you decide to drop from marathon to half, or from the half to the quarter, after the race starts, you will receive an official time but will not be eligible for awards.

Where do I leave my "stuff" while I am running?
We will have an equipment check in near the start line the day of the race. You will be provided with a tag/bag to check things in. Any items that are not picked up that day will be held onto for 2 weeks, after that they will be donated to Goodwill.

How many aid stations will you have?
We will have 2 aid stations/water stops approximately 1.5 to 2 miles apart.

What kind of sports drink will you have.
Aid stations will have Powerade or similar electrolyte drink.

Are headphones (iPods, mp3 players, etc) allowed during the race?
The use of headphones is discouraged but allowed. If you do run with headphones, it is required that you keep one ear free to be able to hear safety vehicles, fellow participants and course officials.

What about spectators, can they watch and cheer, even though it's a trail run?
Yes, there are few excellent spots where spectators could watch and cheer.

Will the event be canceled for rain?
The event will go on rain or shine with only the possibility of delay in the event of lightning. If the weather requires a postponement of the event, refunds will not be given but a transfer policy will be posted to allow racers an opportunity to adjust their schedule.

Are dogs allowed on the course? How about if on a leash?
As fond as we are of our 4-legged friends, we will not allow them on the course for the comfort and safety of other runners.

Will photos be taken during the event?
A staff photographer will be taking photos along the course and at the finish line. Visit www.summernighttrailmarathon.com in the days following the event to search for your photos. ALL PHOTOS ARE FREE TO DOWNLOAD! Post away!
