About this Ride |
The 2013 Wellmark Tour de Oahe offers challenges for every cyclist, including two new routes. Choose the route that matches your fitness level.
. The 25-mile Dam Loop highlights unique lake, riverine and Missouri breaks scenery as well as a ride through the Capitol grounds.
. The 42-mile Buffalo Ride extends the Dam Loop to a ride south on the Native American Scenic Byway (Highway 1806) to the Buffalo Interpretive Center.
. The 62-mile 15-Hills ride follows the Buffalo Ride, continuing beyond the Buffalo Interpretive Center to the boundary of the Lower Brule Sioux Reservation and back to the Oahe Group Lodge. This ride includes three Category 5 climbs.
Each ride includes a pass across the spectacular Oahe Dam. Whichever route you select, you'll experience low traffic, smooth, adequate shoulders and beautiful Missouri River and Lake Oahe scenery.
Friday evening - Pre-Ride Time Trial Ride - This optional event is open to riders who have registered for one of the Saturday rides. Cost is $5 and will start near the Capitol grounds and go up the new bike path.
Helmets are required for all riders.
