About Paddle Williamstown

Enjoy Northern Kentucky's largest lake…safely! Explore nearly 350 acres of calm, flat water paddling on Williamstown Lake as you pass by over 450 waterline properties that border the nearly 17 miles of shoreline. And during the hours of Paddle Williamstown, all powerboat traffic on Williamstown Lake will be restricted. Which means you can enjoy the beautiful scenery without having to worry about wake boarders, water skiers, tubers or jet skiers. You'll share the lake only with fellow kayakers and canoers.

Float Options

Leisurely Float Trip - You've got six hours and nothing but still, flat water in front of you! No running water and no current means you can go where you want, when you want. Take your time and enjoy the many beautiful boathouses and docks that dot the shoreline, or take in Mother Nature's beauty shortly after sunrise and maybe spot a Blue Heron in the process. You might want to pack a camera!

Mayor's Paddle - Open to everyone who registers, it's brunch on the water! While you take a relaxing paddle around the lake, enjoy the hospitality of several Williamstown Lake homeowners and get fed in the process. You never have to leave the water!

Poker Run - The Paddle Williamstown Poker Run is a fun way to test your luck as you paddle around Williamstown Lake. To participate in the Poker Run, you must first be registered for either the leisure float trip or four mile race, and then pay an additional $10 for each hand you want to play. While the run begins at 8:00am and stops will remain open until 12:00pm, you may do the stops in any order, at your own pace. You must return your Paddle Williamstown Poker Run Scorecard with all five stamps along with your cards between 11:30 am - 12:30 pm to the Paddle Williamstown registration booth at the Williamstown Marina.

Participants must go to all five stops on the poker run course. At each stop, hand the official Paddle Williamstown Poker Run Volunteer your score card and draw a card from the poker run bag. Your score card will be marked with an official Paddle Williamstown stamp in one of the card boxes on your score sheet. All cards must be stamped at each stop to ensure that you have completed the course. Once the card is marked, you are ready to paddle on to the next stop.

Four-Mile "Marina-to-Harbor" Races! - Feeling just a little more competitive? Then participate in one of our friendly races! Open to a variety of classes of both kayaks and canoes, the race course will start at Williamstown Marina and take competitors from one end of the lake to the other, finishing four miles later on the western portion in front of Oak Harbor Resorts. Make the return trip to the marina at your own pace and still have plenty of time to participate in the Mayor's Paddle and/or Poker Run.

200-Meter Canoe Sprint Races! - Like your racing fast and furious? Then our sprint races are just for you. Open to recreational/touring canoes 14'-17' in length, our matches will feature men's, women's, mixed, and youth divisions. Racing may be head-to-head or against the clock!

Canoe Relay Races! - Just to have a little fun (and maybe a few laughs) we'll be doing some 2x2 relay races! Get together four people and two canoes and you've got yourself a team! Don't have enough for a full team? Then make some new friends and recruit a couple of your fellow paddlers earlier in the day. After all, it's just for fun! No special race registration required for this one.

Additional Information

Kayaks and canoes rentals available! - Don't have one of your own? Paddle Williamstown has made arrangements through Thaxton's Canoe Livery and Canoe Kentucky to have a limited number of kayaks and canoes available to rent. These will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis with advanced registration only. (No on-site rentals will be available the day of event.)

No shuttle fees! No parking fees! No launch fees! - Even on those so-called "free" paddles, you may end up getting nickel-and-dimed from these hidden costs. With your Paddle Williamstown registration, there will be no unseen fees! It's free parking and launching!

Support a cause in the process of paddling! - Proceeds from Paddle Williamstown will go to support the St. Elizabeth - Grant County Cancer Care.
