Sonya Heitshusen is an award winning anchor and investigative reporter for WHO-TV in Des Moines. Her awards include multiple Emmy Awards, the Edward R. Murrow award, Eric Sevareid awards and Iowa Broadcast News Association awards. Sonya is also an avid endurance athlete. Her love of endurance sports began in 1999, with the completion of her first marathon in 3 hours and 49 minutes. She has since completed five marathons, multiple triathlons, bike races and three full Ironman races - Ironman Boulder, Ironman Kona and Ironman Wisconsin, in which she set a personal record of 12 hours and 52 minutes. Sonya's story includes the ups and downs of training, competition and life. She isn't an elite athlete, but hopes her experiences inspire others to live their fullest, most authentic lives.
