About the Event

There are hundreds of families in Central Indiana living with the burden of Sickle Cell Disease. Many of those families need additional support which Martin Center Sickle Cell Initiative (MCSCI) strives to provide. Your participation in the 19th Annual Sickle Cell 5K Walk/Run will enable MCSCI to fill those gaps with quality supportive services.

The Annual Sickle Cell 5k Walk/Run is widely seen as our premier event. Proceeds benefit our programs which aim to aid and enhance the lives of those affected by Sickle Cell. This includes Sickle Cell education, family support, food pantry, monthly support groups, and advocacy.

Did you know...

  • each registration fee provides a six month supply of Gatorade to one of our Sickle Cell Clients?
  • when you raise just $100 you provide ten families with access to food from our food pantry?
  • when you raise $250 you give one family full access to our Prescription Assistance Service?

6/20/2016 through 6/24/2016 12 noon to 5pm - for pre-registered participants to pick up your Race Packets. Each packet contains race t-shirts, bib/timing tags, and other items.

6/20/2016 & 6/21/2016 - Early Team Packets pick up - Pre-Race Pick Up at Martin Center Sickle Cell Initiative (MCSCI) office, 3549 North College Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46205. Team Captain or a designated person pick up at MCSCI office.

6/22/2016 through 6/24/2016 - Individual Packets Pick Up
Individuals can pick up the race packet at MCSCI office.

6/25/2016 7:00 am - 8:00 am
Team Packets are to be picked up by Team Captain or a designated person at the designated Team Packets Tables only.

Individual Packets are to be picked up at the Individual Packets Table (Alphabetical Order) labeled with the participants' last name's initial.

All participants must arrive by 7:30am to pick up your Race Packets or for your on-site registration.

For onsite registration (for Walk/Run), you must arrive by 7:30am to submit your onsite registration. We accept cash, credit cards or personal checks. Please note that there will be a $30 fee for each returned check.

1. Live Performance by Sandy Lomax and Greg Bacon Jazz Group! Please come and dance, or simply enjoy to the music or simply enjoy the great jazz!

2. "Largest Team Award" with a special trophy! Please organize your families, friends and co-workers to form teams and participate in this fun competition! If your friends has started a team, please register to help their team competing for this new award.

3. "MCSCI Food Drive for Food Pantry" at the race site and on the race day - We are asking for your support for our Food Pantry Program which is critically important for our clients. We have attached a list of suggested food and beverage items that our clients need. Please make sure that the expiration date of your foods and beverage donation items are good through 12-25-2016 or later. The list will also be published on our event site at In return for your donation, you will receive a ticket that entitle you to participate in the drawing of one of following two (2) very nice Gift Baskets:

  • "B-B-Q" Gift Basket" - Including a very nice set of B-B-Q Tool Kit, B-B-Q Sauces, and other B-B-Q activity related items, etc.
  • "Let Get Moving" Gift Basket - Including sport bottle, a set of "Sharper Image" Thermal Bottle & Travel Mug set, sport drinks, and snacks, etc
