The K9 Unit of the Marion Police Department was established in 1998 through generous contributions from the community and remains funded solely through donations.

Our K9 unit consists of two Belgian Malinois and two Dutch Shepherds that specialize in drug detection or bomb/firearm detection. All dogs are also trained to conduct building searches, assist in tracking/apprehending suspects, and other general patrol functions. Ongoing costs include training, veterinary expenses, equipment and supplies, and replacement of dogs when necessary.

We appreciate your support in helping our K9 Unit continue to be at the disposal of local school districts and other law enforcement agencies and communities in eastern Iowa as needed.

If you wish to receive a T-shirt, it is best to register prior to 05/27/16. Shirts are not guaranteed after that and sizes are available on a first come, first serve basis. XXL and XXXL shirts cost $2.00 more.
