Our Charity |
The Heartland Marathon has chosen the Lewy Body Dementia Association as its charity in honor of local running and marathon legend Gary Julin.
Gary was a prolific competitor and a regular on the Omaha road racing circuit for nearly three decades. Gary completed well over 1,000 road races with over 100 overall wins and over 800 age group victories. During that time, Gary finished over 165 marathons with more than 115 completed in less than three hours. Male and female Heartland Marathon winners will be vying for the Gary Julin Trophy in honor of this local running legend.
Gary has been stricken with Lewy Body Dementia for the past several years and it is our goal through our local efforts to provide much-needed support for all who are affected by this dreadful disease.
