Capital Pursuit is a premier late summer race that takes participants through the vibrant East Village, down the beautifully tree lined streets near Drake University campus and ending at the amazing Western Gateway Park downtown.

No discount available at packet pick-up or on race day.

The 10-Mile course starts in downtown Des Moines and winds through the near northwest neighborhoods.
(10-Mile course will be open 2 hours until 10:00 AM, 12 min. pace)

The 5K course will be run in the downtown area.

The Pursuit Junior kids' races are free; however, registration is required.

Participants can register at the registration table on race day. Parents/guardians will need to sign a waiver prior to their child participating in the race. Participants will receive a t-shirt.

The announcer will ask the various age divisions to report to the Pursuit Jr. Table at approx. 9:30, 9:40 & 9:50.

Beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m., kids will run down finish area on Locust Street. Kids will be broken into the following 3 age groups:

Ages 4 & under: 9:30 a.m. - run approx. 100 meters
Ages 5-8: 9:40 a.m. - run approx. 250 meters
Ages 9-12: 9:50 a.m. - run approx. 400 meters

8:00 a.m.: 10-Mile Run and 5K Run/Walk
9:30 a.m.: Pursuit Junior races

Awards will be given to the top male and female 10 Mile finishers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

1st - $500
2nd - $250
3rd - $100

Awards will be given to the top male and female 5K finishers for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

1st - $100
2nd - $75
3rd - $50

Awards will be giving to the top male and female 10 Mile Masters (40+) finisher - $75 gift card.

Awards will be given to the top male and female 5K Masters (40+) finisher - $25 gift card.

Age Divisions:
Awards will be giving to age group winners in the following categories in both the 10 Mile and 5K races:
Younger than 15, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over.

1st - $25 gift card
2nd - $15 gift card
3rd - $10 gift card


One award per winner.

The awards ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m. and take place at Johnny's Hall of Fame on Court Ave. All participants will receive a drink voucher in their packet. Come join us for great food, drinks and fun after the race!

Pre-registered 10-mile participants will receive a beautiful long sleeved technical shirt. 10-mile finishers will receive a finisher's medal.

Pre-registered 5K participants will receive a short-sleeved technical shirt.

Pursuit Junior participants will receive a short sleeve cotton t-shirt.

A portion of the race proceeds will go to assist [b]Iowa Kidstrong, Inc. Their mission is to promote healthy, active lifestyles among children.
