Routes |
25 * 50 * 75 miles
All routes start/finish at the Mississippi Headwaters Hostel in the heart of Itasca State Park. Routes begin by following Wilderness Drive - a gorgeous, winding road through old growth pines around the perimeter of Itasca State Park.
The 25 mile route loops back through the park after following the Wilderness Drive, returning to the hostel on a paved bike trail along the shoreline of Lake Itasca. It is a gorgeous ride. Take your time. Bring a camera.
The 50 mile route heads Northeast outside of the park into scenic country roads and then loops back to Itasca via the Great River Road following the Mississippi River. Roads are quiet and beautiful.
The 75 mile route is a lollipop addition to the 50 mile route - taking off from the Becida rest stop and circling around another lake then returning back to the Becida rest stop - then rejoining the 50 mile route back to the park and ending at the hostel. Plus a new paved road option has presented itself for us in 2014. Routes are not as yet confirmed with local authoritiesbut will be by June 15.
