Online registration will close at midnight on Thursday, October 2nd. Registration will be offered at Packet Pickup on race day for an additional $5/racer.

Activities:
5K Run and Family Fun Walk starting at Deer Ridge Elementary School to support the life-saving work IOPO does. Register to run or walk as an individual or create a team. When one of us becomes an organ and tissue donor, eight people can be saved and as many as 50 others healed. Run, walk, donate, or volunteer. Come together to save lives in Indiana!

Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO) is a unique not-for-profit organization that coordinates organ and tissue donation and provides public education on donation throughout Indiana. As one of 58 organ procurement organizations that make up the nation's donation system, we work with approximately 120 hospitals and serve all Hoosiers in our donation service area. Since 1987, we have helped save the lives of nearly 10,000 organ transplant recipients and provided healing for hundreds of thousands of tissue transplant recipients through our efforts.

What is the Show Us Your Heart Run/Walk?
In 2013, IOPO hosted its first 5K fundraising run/walk in Fort Wayne, and the event exceeded expectations with over 100 participants. Teams, families, companies, healthcare professionals and individual participants joined us to celebrate life, honor organ and tissue donors, and help spread the word about organ and tissue donation. We cordially invite you to participate as a sponsor of the 2nd annual Fort Wayne IOPO Show Us Your Heart 5K Run/Walk.

Who benefits from this event?
IOPO's staff of professionals performs a variety of services to promote and facilitate organ and tissue donation, including providing the citizens of Indiana with the information needed to make an informed choice about donation and to register their personal decision. The event will raise money to continue our life-saving mission and go towards educational programs in high schools, driver's education classes, hospitals, communities, minority health-related events and more. Proceeds will also assist IOPO in caring for our donor families during their time of grief through our Aftercare Program.

A small portion of the funds received from participants, some sponsorships and in-kind donations will be used to purchase a few event items: t-shirts for registered race participants, awards, and complimentary drinks and snacks for participants. Any additional money from sponsorships will go towards our fundraising goal of $13,000.

The Garden of Hope will be a focal point for our event- a special place to honor friends and loved ones who gave the gift of life and offer hope to those waiting for a life saving donation.

IOPO will create a special sign with a picture of your loved one with your personal message. The cost is $30 and you can take the sign home with you after the Run/Walk.
