Full Moon Trail Run |
This is the 12th year for the Lewis Park & Trails (LPT) Full Moon Trail Run. In each of the past years, the event has taken place on the evening of a Fall full moon just after sunset (or Friday closest to the full moon). This year's event falls on date of Friday, October 18th!
This event is to promote LPT while offering the community a unique and fun event with a night trail run and walk in this hidden gem on Springfield's west central side. Any proceeds are used for trail and park upkeep and maintenance. This is the park's premier fundraiser. LPT is not part of the Springfield Park District, but run by a non-profit organization.
All participants MUST bring their headlamps and/or flashlights and travel through the trails under the light of the moon. Tiki torches dot the course.
Events will take place rain or shine.
Registration |
Event is limited to the first 200 registrants. Registration will be available until 11:59PM on Wed, 10/16. Register on-line to be eligible per a post-event drawing for one of several giveaways. On-site registration will be available if the number of registrants has not met the 200 limit.
The first 150 registrants (that are pre-registered online by Oct. 16th) that check in on the night of the event will receive this years’ give away for the event. There are limited quantities, so register online beforehand and check in early on the night of the event!
The event is FREE but a donation is suggested.
Donations to Lewis Park & Trails can be made on-line while registering or mailed to:

Donations can also be made on the night of the event during participant check-in.
Lewis Memorial Acres Association oversees LPT and is a non-profit organization as defined by the IRS and donations are tax-deductible.
Lewis Park & Trails |
Lewis Park & Trails (LPT), formerly Lewis Memorial Acres, was a generous gift donated by Irene Lewis in 1984. In her will, she wished to provide the land to create a Christian park for the community. The forty acres represent a beautiful prairie and wooded setting for recreation, relaxation, and reflection. The park is governed by a non-profit board that oversees the maintenance and development of the park. If you are interested in assisting with LPT please contact any of the event volunteers.
Event Route |
This year's running route (TBD) will be approximately 3 miles and takes advantage of many of the trails in the park. Approximately 0.75 miles will be on prairie trails while the remaining miles will be all on single-track trails in the wooded area of the park. It will be marked with ribbon and paint. The trail flows very nicely and is slightly technical with roots and ruts being the primary obstacles. There are bridges and a few logs to maneuver, as well.
The walk route will be approximately 1 mile on prairie trails and single-track trails just inside the wooded area. The walk, which will be conducive for families, will start approximately 5 minutes after the run.
Your safety is our utmost concern. A GOOD head-lamp and/or flashlight is required.
