What Is A Virtual Run?

A virtual run allows participants to complete the race at their convenience - anytime and anywhere. You may run or walk the race distance at your own pace. You choose your own race day during the race period, your own starting time and your own course, whether it’s in your community, on a treadmill or at a park.

How Does The Sagicor SIGMA Corporate Run Work?

The Sagicor Sigma Virtual Run allows participants to complete the race distance of 5.5K (3.4 miles) at their convenience - on the day, time, and location of their choice between March 1 and March 31.

Beginning February 28 and every subsequent day after your registration is processed (within one working day after your registration is received), you will receive an email with your personalized virtual bib along with your unique results submission link to submit your time.

  • Print your personalized virtual race bib.
  • Run your race and submit your race time before the deadline of April 1st.
  • Download your Virtual Run finisher’s certificate. No proof is required and there will be no race awards.

Sigma Virtual Run medals will be available for distribution within 4 - 6 weeks of the March 31 results submission deadline.

The Virtual Run is being conducted on an honor system. We ask all participants to uphold the spirit of honest racing by running the full distance of their race and reporting their accurate time.

About Our Charity – The Kingston Public Hospital

The Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) is the beneficiary of the 24th Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run.

KPH has been a dominant organization within our health care system and has helped millions of Jamaicans for many years. Here are some interesting facts about this historic medical facility:

  • It is the oldest hospital in Jamaica. The hospital was opened long before Emancipation on December 14, 1776. This means the hospital has stood with Jamaicans through 246 years – that is two centuries and some years!
  • It is Jamaica’s first public health institution. KPH was the first established public health institution on the island.
  • It is the largest multidisciplinary, government-operated health service. It is also the largest trauma centre in the public health system and the largest regional general health care facility in the English-speaking Caribbean.
  • It was once a mental asylum. KPH was initially designed as an almshouse as well as a hospital and later became a mental asylum. The asylum was relocated to Rae Town, St. Andrew in 1850.
  • [*]It was originally located at the corner of East and North Street. There, the land equipped with a small hospital for slaves was converted into a male hospital and an old slave yard converted into a female ward.
