IN-PERSON RACE CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19

The health and safety of all participants and our community is our top priority. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have made a number of changes this year to keep our participants, volunteers and staff comfortable and safe on race day. We are following guidelines and best practices provided by the CDC, State of Texas, Tarrant County, and the City of Fort Worth for outdoor run/walk events and will fully communicate any new protocols or restrictions with participants as they arise.

  • The overall capacity of the in-person Turkey Trot will be limited to 5,000 registered participants.
  • No registrations will be allowed on race day. Registration will occur online only through 12:00 noon on Wednesday, November 25 or until the capacity has been reached, whichever comes first. Bibs may be picked up race day morning by anyone that pre-registered. T-shirts and other swag may not be available on race day, so we strongly encourage packets to be picked up in advance. Dates, times, and locations of packet pickup are to be determined. (this should be nailed down & listed)
  • There will be multiple staging areas for runners, walkers, strollers, and dogs that are available on a first come-first served basis.
  • The corrals and staging areas will be marked for participants to physically distance at least 6′ from participants not in the same household. Each 6 marker should have no more than 1 adult and 2 kids or 2 adults from the same household. Groups/families with more people will be encouraged to spread their group to nearby 6 distancing marks.
  • Participants over the age of 2 years old will be required to wear face coverings or masks while in the staging areas/corrals, and can remove them once they have passed the start line and are able to physically distance themselves from other runners and walkers, approximately 1/2 mile or more onto the course.
  • Water stops will still be available on the course with bottled water only. Participants will receive guidance closer to the event regarding the proper disposal of the container when it is empty.
  • Individually packaged snacks will replace whole fruit at the finish lines. Participants are encouraged to bring their own preferred post-race refueling snack, fruit, or beverage.
  • Hand-washing units will be added at every portable toilet bank. Hand sanitizer will also be available at key areas.
  • All volunteers, staff and sponsor representatives will be required to wear a face covering or mask.
  • Volunteers, staff, sponsor representatives, and participants will physically distance themselves from others not in the same household.
  • Participants will be asked to self-screen for health and close contact prior to the event day.
  • Staff and volunteers will be temperature checked and health screened prior to beginning their work on race day.
  • As a reminder, a virtual option is available for participants who may be unable to attend in person. This virtual option includes the Trot t-shirt and other participant swag that is to be determined.
  • Other changes may be made with or without notice if required by new state or local guidelines or if deemed to be a positive change to promote the health and safety of our participants. Any additional changes will be communicated to participants when they occur.

About the Event

This year, we plan to hold both our traditional in-person trot AND a virtual trot at home option that can take place wherever you are!

Proceeds from the Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot benefit diverse programs of the Y that are strengthening our community including preschool and afterschool care, water safety and swim lessons, day and overnight camp, youth sports, health programs and more.

*Notice: If the Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot in-person event is not allowed to take place, all Timed, Untimed, and Gobbler Trot registrations will be transferred to the virtual Trot at Home option. Your participant gifts will be available for pick up at one of our branch locations and no refunds or credits will be issued. A portion of your registration fee will be a charitable donation.

10K: Male & Female - medals for all 10K finishers!
Top Overall and Top Masters
Top three in the following Age Groups: 0-7, 8-10, 11-14, 15-19, 5 year age groups to 80+

1K: Gobbler Trot:
All ages are invited, and ribbons are given to all runners.

Timing / Scoring / Race Results

Important Notes:


  • Chip timing for the 5k and 10k is available for an extra charge of $5.
  • You will be able to select the chip-timing option during the registration process.
  • There will be a gun start, and timing mats at the beginning & end of the 5k and 10k.
  • Timing chips will be distributed on race morning.

Strollers/Walkers

Strollers are absolutely welcome and MUST line up at the back of the starting corrals. No strollers allowed in the competitive chip timed corral! Children in strollers must be registered for the event as well.

All walkers MUST start at the back of the pack to allow the competitive runners to start the race.

Courses

All 3 courses will begin on Camp Bowie at the Westridge intersection.

The 5K will end on Sunset and Westridge and 10K finish line will be on Camp Bowie and Westridge.
