The Traveler 5.5K Run/Walk celebrates the return of spring in Union, WA. “The Traveler,” a rock formation on the face of Mt. Washington is visible only for a few months every year and only from the Union view of the mountain over Earth Day weekend. The race will be held at Alderbrook Golf Club’s outdoor space " The Pointe. This site offers a spectacular high bank view of this apparition and a wonderful 2-acre event space to promote Hood Canal business/organizations, food, art and Pacific Northwest recreation.

Event t-shirts will be designed by local legend Kirk Endicott “K-Dog” and are available for registered participants for an additional $12.

What is it like to #BeTheTraveler on The Traveler 5.5K Run/Walk? You embrace the very best in local art, food, recreation, events and the undeniable beauty of the Pacific Northwest. This 3.4-mile route offers something for travelers from all walks of life. The race will be professionally timed by Eclectic Edge Racing " the competitive runners will set up first at the starting line, with team and walker participants following right behind. Eclectic Edge Racing will provide online results and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers for all designated age brackets and Hood Canal Events will be providing prizes for top finishers, best individual/team and craziest costume themes.

The course meanders through the privately owned roads of the Alderbook Golf Club community (see route map). Participants will enjoy a gentle, well-marked 3.4 mile terrain with a few rolling hills. We will begin the event activities at 9am with a light cardiovascular warm-up and line up for a race start time of 10am. As you run or walk the course, receive support from the cheers of area residents and 2 hosted water/aid stations to ensure participant hydration and safety. After crossing the finishing line, catch a breathtaking view of the Traveler, listen to music, enjoy locally prepared food and beverage, art, massage tables and the awards ceremony.

Packet Pick-Up will be available on Friday April 20, 2018 between 5pm - 7pm at the Alderbrook Golf & Yacht Club restaurant - E 330 Country Club Dr E, Union, WA. 98592. Beat the rush, grab race details and a bite and beverage while socializing with other participants. If you are unable to attend the early packet pick-up, packet pick-up will be available on race day Saturday, April 21 between 8:30am - 9:30am.

With event entry all registered participants will receive race bib, timing chip and swag bag with goodies from our event sponsors and a local craft beer at the finish line for participants. Along with registration, 5% of event fees will be donated. This year we will be contributing 5% of our registration proceeds to Great Bend Center for Music. This local registered 501c(3) is both an institute for applied research in community music and a performing arts organization located in Union, WA. - to learn more visit greatbendmusic.org.
