Trek Up the Tower is the region’s leading vertical stair climb. A community event presented by The Wellbeing Partners, Trek Up the Tower supports The Wellbeing Partners' mission to build wellbeing into the way communities grow and do business.

In-person years feature participants racing to the top of First National Tower in downtown Omaha on a single day in this competitive, yet fun event. In the 2021 virtual event, participants can log any number of wellbeing activities over the course of three weeks to make virtual progress up the 40 floors of the Tower. Trek is ideal for all fitness levels and attracts everyone from elite athletes who race to the top, to participants who are looking to accomplish a personal goal as they climb the stairs slow and steady.

Trek Up the Tower has something for everyone. You are welcome to join as an individual or as part of a corporate or community team.

LOOKING FOR AN ADDED CHALLENGE?

VERTICAL MILE CHALLENGE: See what you're capable of with this fun, but challenging, category. Participants will complete the Trek ten and 1/3 times to equal one vertical mile.

Vertical Mile Challenge
Ready for the ultimate Trek challenge? Climb up the tower 10 and 1/3 times to complete one vertical mile.
Registration Fee: $65

Benefits

• The Vertical Mile Challenge is the equivalent vertical distance of 10 and 1/3 climbs up the First National Tower.
  
• Vertical Mile Challengers must complete 8,990 stair steps.
  
• The Vertical Mile Challenge must be completed on stairs (not a stair climbing machine).
  
• The Vertical Mile Challenge must be completed in a single day of my choosing between May 8-29, 2021.
  
• Challengers must submit the specifics of the stairs on which they complete the Vertical Mile challenge, including: location, number of steps per ascent, and total ascents completed.
  
• Challengers must submit the total time spent completing the challenge.
  
• Challengers must submit some proof of tracking, whether a screenshot/picture of their device metrics or other device tracking file or photo.
  
• Challengers must submit a selfie or picture of myself at the location of their Vertical Mile.
  

Individual Registration
Participants are not required to join a Corporate or Community team and may register as an individual. Registration is open March 12!

Family Registration
Includes registration for two adults and children 13 years old and under. Comes with two shirts, one finisher's prize, and family wellbeing and activity resources and celebration kit. Perfect for engaging the whole family! The whole family is registered through one group registration. Registration with a Gmail address is ideal so children without email addresses can create platform accounts.

Corporate Team
Corporate teams offer employers a great way to unite their employees and/or families on a single team. Team rankings on the platform will be automatically based on the four top-performing team members (two men, two women). The rankings can be re-sorted to show top-performing men or women only. Please note: team participants still complete the climb individually and are eligible for individual age/gender awards.

Yes. Trek Up the Tower supports The Wellbeing Partners, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with the mission to build wellbeing into the way communities grow and do business. Registration fees help cover the cost of the event and support The Wellbeing Partners' mission. A portion of the entry fee is tax deductible.

What are vertical stair climbs?
Held across the globe, vertical stair climbs are rising in popularity. Like Trek Up the Tower, many take place within a skyscraper; some are held outdoors in stadiums and even up ski slopes. They are a creative way to test your endurance and participate in a community wellness event.

How tall is the tower?
The First National Tower consists of 40 floors and 870 steps. The tower extends 633 feet into the sky and is the tallest building between Denver and Chicago. The 2021 vertical challenges are based off of the Tower's height!

Registration Categories
Is this an individual or team event?
Both. Corporate and community teams are encouraged, but you also can participate as an individual.

What is the Vertical Mile?
This category is for Trekkers looking for an added challenge. Participants will climb the equivalent of 10 and 1/3 Tower heights, or one vertical mile, to complete the challenge.

Registration
Is there an age limit?
In the 2021 virtual year, there is no age limit. Children 13 and under can be registered through the Family Registration. Youths 14 and older should register using the Light, Premium, or Vertical Mile categories. In an in-person year, the minimum age to participate is 16.

Is the event open to the public or just The Wellbeing Partners members?
Trek Up the Tower is open to the public.

How do I register as a team captain?

Are refunds available if I need to cancel?
There are no refunds for this event.

What is included in registration?
Each participant will receive access to the Trek challenge, the virtual platform, a finisher's medal upon completion, and any available raffle opportunities. Premium, Vertical Mile, and Family registration categories include a soft-style short-sleeved even t-shirt.

Can companies cover a portion of the registration fees?
Absolutely. Financially incenting your employees to participate is a great way to grow your team and show your support for community wellness. Request your Discount Code at the Trek Up the Tower website under "Team Recruitment." You can choose to cover a portion of the registration fee or the entire amount. Can we make the trek more than once?
Yes! In the 2021 virtual year, you can complete the Trek Challenge as many times as you want in the three-week challenge period! For an additional challenge, consider the Vertical Mile.

Are results available online?
