The FAM Turkey Trot has been a tradition for many families since 2012. It is a family friendly way to kick off your Thanksgiving, whether you're a competitive runner or want walk around the lake with your family. Teams can be set up in memory of a loved one, so that you can raise funds in their honor. Whether you are a family served by SHINE or just looking for a quick 5K to earn your Thanksgiving dinner, you’ll enjoy your morning at Raccoon River Park with other runners, joggers, and walkers. We can’t anticipate the weather, but we can guarantee a tradition for years to come!

In order to support the SHINE program at Blank Children’s Hospital, a raffle will also take place with tickets going on sale November 10th through race day. You do not need to be present to win. 8:00 am - Packet Pick-up, Registration, Raffle open at Raccoon River Park
9:00 am - 5K Walk/Run start at Coneflower Shelter, Raccoon River Park
10:30 am - Awards/Prizes at Coneflower Shelter. Top fundraising team, raffle drawings, do not need to be present to win.
Age group award winners, overall Turkey Trot winners will be recognized as results are available.

Packet pick up/walk in registration available Wednesday, November 27th, 11am-4:00pm at Lutheran Church of Hope, 925 Jordan Creek Parkway, 50266.

5K Run/Walk starts and finishes at the Coneflower Shelters at Raccoon River Park, West Des Moines, near the playground. Free parking is available and limited portable restrooms. The route loops 3.1 miles around the lake on crushed gravel path in rain, snow, or sunshine. Dress accordingly.

T-shirts and race bibs can be picked up on Wednesday, November 27th at Lutheran Church of Hope or on race day, November 28th at Raccoon River Park starting at 8am.

Those registering after November 14th will receive a t-shirt while quantities last, so plan on making arrangements to get your shirts on Wednesday.

You have the option to add a FAM turkey trot beanie for only $18! Beanies can be picked up at packet pick up or on race day.

The mission of the FAM (Friends of Aaron Michael) Turkey Trot is to create a Thanksgiving tradition to support and connect families that have lost a child. While many of our participants do not have a SHINE connection, the event raises funds for the SHINE program at Blank Children's Hospital that provides support and hope for those families.
