Five07 Turkey Day Dash - Smiley's Speedsters

Why this event is so important to Chet and Kathy: This event is on track to having over 2500 participants running/walking to raise funds and awareness that will directly benefit so many lives in our community through the generous donation directly to three community service organizations! Our particular focus is the Thousand Oaks Kiwanis.

The Smiley's, Chet and Kathy, are both active Kiwanians. One of our missions is to work with youth ages kindergarten through college to teach them to care about their community through hands-on service projects and leadership training. (K-Kids for elementary youth; Builder's Clubs for middle schoolers; K-Club for high schoolers; Circle-K International (CKI) for college students; Aktion Club for adults with disabilities; and Alumni Club for young 20's and beyond to take leadership roles and stay connected. The TO Kiwanis meets every Wednesday morning at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks, where we are fortunate to have a variety of informative local speakers representing service organizations and worthwhile endeavors. We volunteer in the community through hands-on help with many events, like this one, and we offer grants, gifts and scholarships throughout the year. We often bring the BBQ wagon and set up booths and games for many different events. We feed the hungry, clothe the needy, help boost human dignity, donate and stuff foster kid's backpacks, help out at Manna, Harbor House, Safe Passages, and so much more. It seems like every month there is a terrific variety of events we help with, and we enjoy camaraderie and fun, as well. It is so very, very rewarding! Contact us if you would like to check us out!

Also benefiting from this event are the Ventura County Boy Scouts and the Ventura County YMCA - two very deserving and important organizations in our community.

You are invited to join the Smiley's Speedsters team to walk or run the event on Nov 28th, Thanksgiving morning. Festivities start at 7:00AM so plan on arriving at CLU parking lot at least by 6:30.
