15th Annual Courage Ride - Team Gina

We are riding in honor of Gina Prevenas who passed away September 19, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer. How do you channel the overwhelming loss, the outpouring of love, the anger over losing an amazing person to a devastating disease, the desire to do something when you just feel helpless? By supporting further sarcoma cancer research in the hopes that others will be spared the heartache Gina's family and friends have endured.

The Courage Ride is an annual event, taking place this year on Saturday, August 17th. This is the 15th Anniversary of Courage Ride and this year the ride is starting and ending at Big Grove in Iowa City!

There are 6 different routes to choose from to better accommodate all skill levels. All proceeds from each year's Courage Ride go to the University of Iowa Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center Sarcoma Research Program. Over 100 adults and children in Iowa are diagnosed with sarcoma each year. Sarcoma receives 1 to 2 percent of all cancer research funding. Eighty-five percent of the program's research funding comes from Courage Ride. To date, the $500,000 raised by Courage Ride has supported many sarcoma clinical trials and created the Midwest's only sarcoma tissue bank.
