A BIG LOSS OF A BIG MAN
Jim Axt was - in all ways - a big man. Big in stature, big in heart, big in willingness to help any and all in need. Sadly, his 6'7" stature was not able to withstand the ravishes of Parkinson’s Disease. Diagnosed in April, 2011, Jim fought valiantly, using any and all means available to prolong his time with his beloved family and friends.
And who were Jim’s friends? Everyone who ever met him.
Everyone at Roger Bacon, where he gave much of his time to the RB Band Booster program. Everyone at Cincy SCCA - Sports Car Club of America, where he was a member who loved to race his Trans Am or Camaro. Everyone at Lake Cumberland, where he loved taking others out on his boat, pulling kids on tubes or teaching them to water-ski. Everyone at home, where he was a devoted husband and stepfather and enjoyed playing with his dogs.
In Nov, 2017, Jim started to rapidly decline. Speech became a problem; mobility was limited. But he never gave up the smile and the gentleness that made this man so special. He was a fighter to the very end. The end came all too soon, and on January 13 ?, 2018, our big friend physically left us.
Now he lives only in our hearts.
