Parkinson's Steady Strides 5K Race - Rick Iles WalkAide Team

[b]Everyone Wants Your Money... And So Do We !!![/b]

Hello family, friends, team members, potential team members, and everyone else who would like to be on a great team for the Parkinson's Steady Strides 5K Fundraiser.

I'm writing this note to inform and/or to remind you that the Steady Strides Parkinson's 5K fundraiser has been rescheduled as a virtual 5K. This will allow anyone to run/walk a 5K on their own and at anytime from now until October 24th Registration for the virtual race is $35. These runners/walkers will receive a race t-shirt and food and gift coupons in their race packets. If you decide not to do the virtual race, I'm asking you to make a donation of at least $35. Those individuals who donate $35 or more will receive a race packet which will include a race t-shirt.

I have left my goals where I set them in February—100 people on my team (this would include donors and racers) and to raise $5,000.00. These are lofty goals in view of the effect of the virus on our economy but I think we should still try to reach them. I'd really like to have each of you on my team. Grab a friend or 2 and get them to register and run a virtual race 5K with you. Currently I have 47 team members and they have raised $3,190.00

I want to issue my challenge again to those of you who could do it. I know that because of the virus some of our friends and family cannot afford the registration fee. I have decided to sponsor at least 4 of my friends for the race. Perhaps you could find someone who you could sponsor and even run a virtual race with them. If you cannot join us at a virtual race you can always make a donation to support the Parkinson's Support and Wellness Organization. (Please note that you would donate to this local organization and not the national organization.)

Finally, the organization still needs to raise money so they can continue to provide services for our family members, friends, and neighbors who are battling Parkinson's Disease. Just how is this money used? It is used to sustain and expand wellness programs including:

- Educational programs — including diet, medications, cognitive issues, and more

- Support groups for Parkinson's patients and their caregivers

- Exercise programs

- Grants issued to small businesses, many of which serve the Parkinson's community.

In conclusion, let me restate my goals. My hope is that you will join my team, that you will register for the virtual race (cost $35), or that you will donate at least $35 to the fundraiser. It would be great to see the money start flowing in. Awards day is only 7 weeks away.
