Milam Settlers Days

Each year, the weekend before Thanksgiving, people from all over descend into Milam, to celebrate Early Settlers in our historical entrance into Texas, formerly known as Red Mound. Our beautiful edge of Texas was first described by Stephen F Austin after he crossed the Sabine River, and camped on Las Boregas Creek, just west of our event each year, " ....we then suddenly came to an open rolling country, thinly Timbered soil about the color of Spanish Browne, and in some places redder - this red land was very productive and is covered with the most luxuriant growth of Grass I ever beheld in any country, almost any of it would produce as much hay as the best meadows. The country so far is well watered." For two days we have Entertainment, Historical Reenactments, Vendor booths, Food Booths, 5K Fun Run/Walk, Gumbo Cookoff, Prizes, Petting Zoo, Visits with Santa, and many other activities! All proceeds from this event benefit Historical Preservation, El Camino Park in Milam and the Historical 1830's Causey Log Home, located on the property.
