    You have selected to register for a virtual event. So, what is a virtual event? A virtual event is a great way for you to participate and contribute, without actually attending the live event. When you register for the "virtual option", a bib and medal will be mailed to your house. It is then up to you to run your own 5k. You can run your 5k at the park, from home, or at the gym on the treadmill. And, you can run it whenever you like. We would love for you to share memories of your virtual Bolt for the Heart on the official Facebook site too. The only thing you can't do is show up on race day and expect to run the live event. Good luck and be safe on your run. If you have questions, please ask because we are happy to help.

    All virtual registrations will be mailed on November 9th and remaining on November 16th.

Start a new FamilyTradition and do someone good for your heart, and maybe someone else's. Flock to Carmel this Thanksgiving and earn your turkey! Join us for a 3.1 mile run/walk on a beautiful USATF CERTIFIED course to benefit Bolt for the Heart for the placement of life saving AED's
(automated external defibrillators) in Central Indiana in an effort to save people who experience sudden cardiac arrest. Thanksgiving can challenge any routine, whether it be cooking, family events or travel.

The Bolt for the Heart 5K Run provides friends and family a chance to do something active before they start their traditional Thanksgiving celebration. Because we all have so much to be thankful for.

All registrations before November 14th include:

  • Custom Bolt race bib
  • Quality long sleeve 50/50 performance Bolt race shirt
  • Newly designed Finishers medal
  • Post race refreshments

Shirts and medals to all registered before November 16th. Shirts not guaranteed after this date.

Bolt for the Heart is a 501c3 charitable organization so your registration is tax deductible AND 100% of the race proceeds will go directly to buying AEDS for the Indiana State Police.

Wednesday 11/27 from 12:00-5:30pm at IU Hospital North in Carmel
* Registration prices will be $5 higher per person at Packet Pickup and on Race Day

Thursday 11/28 from 7:30-8:30am at Center Green by the Palladium


Parking for the event is available in at the James Building (Tarkington Theater), the Mohawk Place Shopping Center and at the United Methodist Church on Rangeline Road.

Q: How long is a 5k?
A: 5 kilometers = 3.1 miles

Q: Will there be race-day packet pickup?*
A: Yes. There will race-day packet pickup starting at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, however, we strongly encourage participants to pick up their packets on Wednesday from 12:00-5:30pm at IU Health North - 11700 N Meridian St, Carmel, IN 46032

Q: Can a friend pick up my packet for me?
A: Yes

Q: Are strollers or dogs allowed?
A: Baby joggers/strollers are permitted. As the safety of all participants is our top priority, we ask that those with baby joggers/strollers start toward the back and priority everyone's safety over
finish time. Due to insurance restrictions, participants are not permitted to bring dogs on the route.

Q: What if it rains on race day?
A: Bolt for the Heart will take place rain or shine. Event will be cancelled only if absolutely necessary for the safety of participants, volunteers and event staff. In this case, there will be no refunds of race entry fees.

Q: Will there be age group awards?
A: Yes, we will have results and awards for age group finishers in 5 year

Q: Can I wear headphones?
A: Yes, but we ask that you keep the volume down at a safe level so that you
can hear other runners or instructions from event personnel.

Q: Can I volunteer to help on event weekend?
A: Yes! There are volunteer positions for every type of person. It's also a great way for individuals, families, clubs, and other groups to get involved and start a holiday tradition! For students looking to earn community service hours, volunteering earns hours and a free shirt!

Q: I am registered, but cannot participate. Can I transfer my registration/bib to someone else?
A: No, as noted in the application waiver, registrations/bibs are nontransferable and cannot be transferred from one person to another.

Q: I am entered in the race but recently incurred an injury and will be unable to compete. Can I defer my participation to next year?
A: No. We do not offer deferments or refunds.
