Description:
Join QC Plus 55/60 Club members in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, as we explore antique agricultural equipment at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion on Thursday, August 28, 2025. This event provides a comprehensive view of America's agrarian history through demonstrations featuring steam engines and tractors. From steam engines to antique cars and trucks, tractors, gas engines, and horses, the event offers an array of attractions. Visitors can enjoy delicious food and engaging reenactments at North Village and Log Village.
Daily Activities:
"Cavalcade of Power" Parade: Held at noon daily, featuring steam engines, cars, trucks, tractors, and horses. The parade commences with the noon whistle from steam engineers across the grounds.
Free Ground Entertainment: There are three main areas offering free entertainment – The Family Tent, Dance Barn, and Museum A Gazebo.
Additional Attractions:
•Food: Local churches and civic groups prepare traditional Threshing meals. Numerous food tents are available for visitors. Meals are not included in the registration fee.
•"The Smile Machine" Carousel: Enjoy a ride on the beautifully restored antique carousel powered by a Herschell-Spillman steam engine.
•Antique Cars & Trucks: View these vehicles cruising around the grounds or visit the car building for detailed insights from the Southeast Iowa Car Club.
•Demonstrations: Experience various historical methods such as Horse Powered Treadmill, Corn Sheller operations, and Belt Driven Dynamometer.
•Drive-A-Tractor: Experience driving a tractor with modified safety features. This exhibit is free.
•Antique Gas Engines: Explore over 600 gas engines and learn about their historical significance.
•Heritage Museums: Visit the Richard Oetken Heritage Museum showcasing exhibits like Traction Steam Engines, Family Farm House, American Farm Implements, and more.
•Horses: Witness demonstrations of horse-powered threshing, baling hay, and other historical farming activities.
•Midwest Central Railroad: Take a train ride around the 1.25-mile loop. Round-trip tickets are $5.00 per person (Ages 4 and under are free).
•Midwest Electric Railway: Ride the electric railway to the Log Village or your campsite. Tickets are $3.00 per person (Ages 6 and under are free).
•North Village: Explore the old west-style village with buildings such as Pleasant Lawn School and Center Chapel Church. Watch reenactments of historical events.
•Printers Hall: Discover the evolution of printing technology from the 1870s Hand Press to modern techniques.
•Stationary Steam: Learn about the role of stationary steam engines in industrial applications.
•Traction Steam Engines: View working steam engines and participate in activities like sawmill operations, threshing demonstrations, and steam engine games.
•Antique Tractors: Over 1000 antique tractors are displayed with activities such as tractor pulls and corn shelling.
Meals are not included in the registration fee.
