Mental Health Matters 5K Run or Walk / Hiawatha Iowa starting time 7:30am

Foundation 2 Crisis Services
Mental Health Matters 5k

We’ve partnered with Tim Vipond whose 21-year-old son Jeff, died by suicide in November 10, 2019.

The Mental Health Matters 5K Run and Walk was created in an effort to decrease stigma around mental health challenges, encourage reaching out for help and honor those who have died by suicide. We know the stigma of mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis can lead to reluctance to seek help or treatment or prevent family, friends, and others from understanding the challenges that exist. Jeff Vipond, Matt Bertel, Cam Kranich, Hunter Ackerman and Blaine Schumacher were all young adult males , who were struggling with their mental health and died by suicide. Because so many people struggle with suicidal thoughts and behaviors regardless of age, race, gender, socioeconomic status, Foundation 2 Crisis Services is a trusted support for all people, any time, every time! We have been providing support in Cedar Rapids and the surrounding communities for over 50 years.

Our crisis support and suicide prevention services are available 24/7 at no cost.

You can call us at the Foundation 2 Crisis Line at (319) 362-2174 or chat and text through Your Life Iowa (www.yourlifeiowa.org).

We’re all part of suicide prevention and you can learn more here www.foundation2.org/suicide/ .

Every registrant receives a high-quality short -sleeved race t-shirt and proceeds will benefit Foundation 2 Crisis Services!
