Points will be assigned after each race and posted on the OBRA website. Points will accumulate for all 3 races in 2024. You must race in all 3 events to be eligible to win the series championship. The “Champion of the Dirt Wave” will be determined after the final race in Newport.
Points: The top ten men & women at each series event (Overall Winners), on a traditional mountain bike and on an e-bike will receive points respectively towards the series total. A category distinction of Cat 1 (Expert) or Cat 2 (Sport) does not factor into series points, nor does age.

Cat 1 (Expert) riders are highly skilled and comfortable with a wide range of obstacles encountered on a trail, including steep and loose terrain and technical rock gardens. They can navigate most trail features confidently including black diamond trails that may have jump lines and larger obstacles.
Cat 2 (Sport) riders possess the ability to handle technical terrain, smaller jumps and drops, and are skilled at cornering. They are capable of completing most trails without stopping to walk a section, but may choose to go around larger jumps or drops. While some may have racing experience, it is not a requirement for a sport rider.

Frequently Asked Questions |
CAN I REGISTER ON RACE DAY?
Yes, but we prefer you register earlier. If you must register on race day you will pay a higher price. Please see schedule for packet pick up times.
ARE HELMETS REQUIRED?
Yes, helmets will be required for both events.
WHAT IS MINIMUM AGE TO RACE THE FLOW-DURO CHALLENGE?
The minimum age is 9 years old based on the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association guidelines.
This is not a race for beginners as the courses are fast & technical and have steep climbs to reach the top where race begins.
WILL THERE BE A PRE-RIDE OF FLOW-DURO COURSE?
Each event will offer a Pre-Ride of the course on Saturday @ 1 PM.
DO I HAVE TO DO ALL 3 FLOW DURO CHALLENGE RACES? OR CAN I JUST SIGN UP FOR ONE?
You can sign up for one or all of the Flow Duro Challenges races. You can only be considered for the “Champion of the Dirt Wave Series” if you attend all 3 races.
WHY ARE THERE ONLY 125 SPOTS AVAILABLE IN THE FLOW DURO CHALLENGE RACE?
We are only allowing 125 people to register for the race so we have plenty of time to do 2 timed laps down the race course and need to allow time for climbing back to the top in between.
HOW DO I GET TO THE TRAILS?

WHERE DO I PARK AT THE TRAILS?
Klootchy Creek: We will have volunteers directing parking at Klootchy Creek Park.
Whiskey Run: On Saturday, the road will be closed for our event. Please show your ticket to the volunteers and/or let them know you are doing a day of registration for the event. You will be parking along the road and in the limited gravel parking areas. On Sunday, the road will not be closed. Park along the side of the road and limited parking in gravel parking areas.
Newport: Parking is very limited at Big Creek Park and the dirt road to the race course will be closed for the race on Sunday.
We will have limited designated parking available near Big Creek Park in a gravel lot. This trail system is in a neighborhood and we want to be respectful of taking over all the parking so we suggest parking at Agate Beach Wayside and riding your bike or walking the “Ocean to Bay Trail” which will bring you to Big Creek Park.
Please park at Agate Beach Wayside from here you will need to bike or walk the .09 mile Ocean to Bay Path to Big Creek Park.
WHAT IF MY FAMILY WANTS TO WATCH?
We love having spectators line the course and cheer the racers on but don’t love when we need to pause a race as someone is walking on the course. Please remain off the race course at all times. You can walk to a viewing spot on the race course before the race begins and walk back once the race has ended. Please do not walk on the course at any time during the race or the race will be paused for rider safety and delay all of our fun.
Only registered racers are allowed to ride on course on race day. We will offer exceptions for youth riders that have a parent or coach that wants to follow them on the course. The youth racer must finish the course completely on their own power and parent/coach is not allowed to pull, push, or carry them in any way.
Please note that spectators will have to walk to start/finish of race and distances may be a 20-40 minute walk (depending on course).
WILL THERE BE FOOD OR DRINKS AVAILABLE?
We will have extra water available for riders at the trail head. Come prepared with your own water, power bars, snacks, etc. We will have a food cart on site from 11-3pm on Saturday and 11-2 on Sunday for you to purchase food on your own. We will have local beer on tap for purchase as well.
Our Sunday event is for riders who have some technical skills as the race courses vary from advanced blue to black diamond (Advanced) trails. We suggest checking each course on trailforks to see the profile and description and if it is within your level of riding. The Flow Duro Challenge Race is not designed as a beginner event, especially if there are wet conditions.
HOW DO I SUPPORT THE LOCAL TRAILS?
Klootchy Creek Trails: You may donate directly to the Northwest Trail Alliance, the local bike club that builds and maintains the trails.
Whiskey Run Trails: You may donate directly to the Wild Rivers Coast Mountain Biking Association, the local bike club that builds and maintains the trails.
Newport: You may donate directly to the [url=https://newportnewts.org/donate/]Newport Trail Stewards (NEWTS)/url], the local bike club that builds and maintains the trails.
