About the Event |
All events can be done on the 38-mile D&H Rail-Trail, PA’s 2021 Trail of the Year that starts in Simpson at Morse Ave and extends north through Forest City, Union Dale, Herrick, Ararat, Thompsom, Starrucca, Stevens Point and Lanesboro, ending at the NY border. The improved trail is Simpson to Ararat and Stevens Point to NY border. From Ararat to Stevens Point is graded original railroad surface, where a mountain bike is needed, but great for hiking and exploring. A trail map and detailed information can be found on neparailtrails.org
Events can be done anytime during the month of September, PA’s Trail Month. It is not necessary to complete your mileage all at once but can be spread out over the month. You can keep track of your mileage through Get Your Tail on the Trail. New this year are mile markers on the entire 38 miles.
We also added a history scavenger hunt. Participants will be emailed a list of questions; the answers can be found on our historical and interpretive signage along the trail.
Use any app to time and/or measure your distance for biking, walking, or running. Challenge yourself!
Each challenge is $25 and proceeds are used for continued trail maintenance and matching funds for grants to improve more trail sections. Every participant will receive a 2023 Challenge tee shirt and a raffle ticket for gift certificates donated by our sponsors. All participants are invited to the wrap-up Challenge event – Biketoberfest Saturday, October 21st at the Caboose in Union Dale. There will be trail events beginning at 11 AM followed by food and music at 1 PM.
