Action for Alex Event Information |
Action for Alex consists of family and friends of Alexandra Rae Gravino. Our mission is for Alex's kind, fun-loving spirit to continue to touch the lives of many, through the organization and sponsorship of various events, projects, and a scholarship, in her memory.
In memory of Alex, Action for Alex is hosting the Catch-a-Rae 5K Run/ Walk. All proceeds will benefit Action for Alex, including the Alexandra Rae Gravino Memorial Arts & Athletic Scholarship. Catch-a-Rae is a public event, and our sincere hope is for this event to bring our community together in a very special way.
Why a run? As a member of the Red Hook field hockey and track teams, running was part of Alex's life. As a runner, Alex's hope was to, one day, be able to keep up with her mom, Jodi, a serious race runner.
Why 'Catch-a-Rae'? As you may have noticed, Alex's middle name is Rae. Her mom often called Alex her 'ray of sunshine'. Very fittingly, Jodi named this event 'Catch-a-Rae'. While it's a unique play on Alex's name, it also conveys Alex's warmth, which she shared freely.
