Winnie the Pooh - FULL

Explore the Hundred Acre Woods with Winnie the Pooh and his friends at the the Mines of Spain. You will have a bouncing good time with Tiger as we find out what big adventure they will get into next. Adult must stay with child. Cost: $10

Night Owls

Once the sun goes down the fun begins for many animals. Come learn about the nocturnal animals that hide in the dark of the night. Although we might not get a chance to see these animals out during the day, we can still search for signs of their activity! Cost: $15

Creepy Crawlies

Worms, bugs and slugs! If you enjoy getting down and dirty with the creepy crawlies that roam these areas then this camp is for you! Come learn about the all the different “creepy crawlies” and discover how they are not creepy at all. Cost: $15

Come discover the driftless area. Not sure what that means? We live in a unique area that was untouched by the last glaciers leaving us with a beautiful landscape. Learn about the cool plants and animals found nowhere else in the world as a result! Cost: $25

Look! Up in the sky! It’s a bird! Join us in a birding expedition and learning all about birds and their neat adaptations. Being along the Mississippi River can some unique bird spotting opportunities. Cost: $30

Learn about the wilderness and how to survive in it. You will learn everything from shelter building, fire making, orienteering and first aid. Become skilled in mastering the unknowns that nature could throw at you. Cost: $30

Bike the Heritage Trail (Overnight)

Dyersville to Heritage Pond take this chance to bike the whole Heritage in two days! Take a break, by camping along the trail and learn proper bike maintenance and trail etiquette when biking this area. Please pack your own bike and helmet. Cost: $50

3, 2, 1 take off! Blast out of this world as we explore elements outside of our world and area. Take the chance to camp with us and discover the mysteries of the starry night sky. You will also get to cook your own food over a fire. Cost: $50

Grab your flashlights and let’s explore underneath the earth. Learn about the formation of caves and their hidden secrets of the dark. We will visit various locations and climb into the unknown. Cost: $30

Buzz Like a Bee

The bees are a buzzing and the flowers are a blooming. Come be part of the hive, playing games and learning what it really means to be as busy as a bee. Talk to a real bee keeper, for a chance see a hive up close. Cost: $35

Hunters Safety Camp - FULL
July 12-14 (T-Th), 9:00am-2:00pm
Join Dubuque County Hunters Safety instructors and Conservation Officers from the Iowa DNR for a multi-day hunter’s safety experience. Participants gain extensive hands-on instruction on firearms, fishing, and many other outdoor skills including learning about camouflage, gun carrying techniques, shot sizes, decoys, archery, animal calls and more! Participants will shoot a .22 rifle and a 20-gauge shotgun. They will also earn their Iowa DNR Firearms Safety Certificate. Cost: $50

Girl Scouts Hunters Safety Camp

Join us in a true wilderness experience as we head out to White Pine Hallow at the Northwest side of Dubuque County. At this camp you will get to learn how to read a compass and maps to make your way through this undeveloped wooded area. Cost: $25


Overnight Summer Camps

Adult Mississippi River Voyageur Paddling Trip (Ages 18+)
June 20-22 (M-W)
Spend two nights and three days paddling the mighty Mississippi aboard 10-passenger voyageur canoes! This trip will involve paddling with our camping gear, cooking over camp stoves, and sleeping on sand bars along the river. Yellow River State Forest Backpacking Trip (Ages 14-17)
June 28-30 (T-Th)
Explore the stunning woodland views and meandering trout streams as we hike through the Yellow River State Forest. This will be a two-night three-day backpacking trip where you will discover what it is like to carry your possessions on your back, filter water, sleep in a tent and more! Cost: $50, Contact Dubuque County Conservation Board at 563.556.6745 for registration.

Kickapoo State Recreation Area Backpacking Trip (Ages 12-17)
July 12-14 (T-Th)
Youth looking for an adventure are invited to join us as we go on a backpacking trip to the Kickapoo Valley Reserve! We will embark on this 3 day, 2 night backpacking trip as we hike the prairies and wooded hills of the Kickapoo Valley Reserve in Wisconsin. Cost: $50, Contact Dubuque County Conservation Board at 563.556.6745 for registration.
