About Bop to the Top

Climb the 36 floors of the OneAmerica Tower on January 22 in the 39th annual Bop to the Top Stair Climb, benefiting Riley Children's Foundation! Bring the family out, as this event is open to all ages and abilities!

Take the challenge and climb all 780 steps as an individual or as part of a 4-person team! There is also a Triple Step event where you can complete the climb three different times!

We will accept RACE DAY registration from 7:30AM to 11:30AM at the OneAmerica Tower.

Mask and Social Distancing Guidelines

To ensure a safe environment for all our guests on raceday, please adhere to the following guidelines.

1) Stay home if you are not feeling well!
2) Masks are strongly encouraged for ALL participants
3) Masks are required if you are unvaccinated*
4) Hand sanitizer will be available at start/finish
5) Stairwells will be ventilated with outside air
6) Boppers will start with ~60 second gaps (previous years was ~15 seconds)
7) Social distancing is encouraged

*Proof of vaccination will NOT be required

Participate VIRTUALLY from Jan. 17 - 31

Can't make it to the race? Climb VIRTUALLY from January 17 - 31! At the end of January, we'll send you a link to submit your total results. And, we'll mail your shirt!

Challenge yourself to climb as much as you can, and track your progress in the following ways:
- Flights
- Stairs
- or Total time

Here are some ways you can climb:
- Step mill
- Stair climber
- Jacob's Ladder
- Outdoor stairs
- Parking garage stairwell
- Permitting indoor facility*

Participant Shirts

Participants will receive a Long Sleeve T-shirt upon finishing. But first, you have to BOP to the TOP!

Shirts are guaranteed to those that register by Tuesday, January 18 at 11:59pm! Don't delay - register NOW!

Single Climb

Conquer all 36 floors as an individual in the Single climb! That is 780 steps and 500 feet straight up!

Triple Step

Is one climb just not enough? Climb the tower 3 times and we'll add your times up for a 'Total Time'*!

You will have a 3 hour time period to complete all three climbs. Your total time for the 3 climbs does NOT include rest time between climbs. Triple Steppers will be seeded near the 8:30AM time slot. All triple steppers must be done by 11:30am in order to be eligible for awards.

*Triple Steppers are NOT eligible for Individual Single Climb and Team Competition awards

4-Person Team Competition

Get a team together and Bop to the Top! Teams consist of 4 members, who will each climb the tower ONE time. Teams can compete in the following categories:

--- OPEN - Any gender combination
--- FAMILY - Any gender combination of immediate family members (Parents, children, etc.)
--- MASTERS - Minimum age of 40, AND at least one (1) female
--- CO-ED - At least two (2) females
--- ALL-FEMALE - Females only
--- COLLEGIATE OPEN- Only college students, AND at least one (1) female
--- FIRE FIGHTERS - Any gender combination from the same department.

Seeding

Participants will be seeded based on a previous stair climb time or a recent 5K time, provided during registration. Seeded participants will start between 8:30am and 10:30am.

Seed times will be posted on Friday, January 21.

Please arrive AT LEAST 45 minutes prior to your start time, if you have been seeded. All participants MUST START their climb by noon.

If you do not wish to be seeded, or do not enter a seed time, you will be placed between 10:30am - 12:00pm.

Overall & Age-Group Awards



Stick around after you're done "Bopping" for the awards ceremony at 12:30pm in the OneAmerica auditorium, located on the first floor.

Individual Awards
- Top 3 Individual Overall male/female finishers in the Single and Triple Step climbs
- Top 3 finishers in each division - Big Guy (200 lbs), Big Big Guy (225 lbs), Big Big Big Guy (250 lbs+), Athena (female-165 lbs+)

Team Awards
- Top 3 teams - Open, Family, Masters, Co-Ed, All-Female, Collegiate Open, and Fire Fighters

Age-Group Awards
8 and under, 9-10, 11-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85 and above

Raceday Packet Pickup & Site Map

Due to renovation in the OneAmerica Tower, the 1st floor cafeteria we have always used will be CLOSED. Packet Pickup/registration will now be done in the 1st floor Auditorium. See Site Map, below.

There will NOT BE a packet pickup on Friday, January 21.

Free Parking

Please use the FREE garage or surface lot (red circle), located directly north of the OneAmerica Tower, between Capitol Avenue and Illinois Street. Enter from the west side (green circle) as you are heading south on Capitol Avenue.

Once parked, you can enter the OneAmerica Tower from ground level, or the 3rd floor Skybridge that connects the garage and the OneAmerica Tower.
