Chiller Challenge & Annual Meeting

Due to the forecast for more winter weather tomorrow morning with wind chills between -10 degrees F and -20 degrees F, we have decided to change the Chiller Challenge into an untimed fun run. We regret this decision, but due to the cold conditions there is a risk that the timing equipment necessary to maintain social distancing as provided in our COVID-19 race protocol (so we cannot just switch to pull tag timing) would not work and there would be no results. In addition, the wind chills are forecast to be very near the danger zone for frostbite. We understand this will create disappointment for some of our participants, but the safety of runners and volunteers is our primary concern. The Annual Meeting will proceed and box lunches for participants will be available. Mask wearing while entering the Papillion Landing Community Recreation Center and appropriate spacing while inside the building will be required. Participants planning to participate in the fun run are to prepare, evaluate and only participate if they feel safe to do so. The revised schedule will be as follows: 10:30 Doors Open; 10:30-12:30 - Voting for directors and officers; 11:30 Fun Run; 12:15 Lunch; 12:45 Hall of Fame Inductees Announced; 1:00 Annual Meeting and Election Results; 1:20 2021 Club Races and Events

Details

The Chiller Challenge & Annual Meeting is a great way to kick off your running year. Although this year may be a little different than in the past as we all deal with COVID-19. Under current directives and protective measures we can safely host the races and election of the Omaha Running Club Directors and Officers but if directives or conditions change we will adjust accordingly. We are continuing to monitor conditions and are working with the facility to determine if we can host the chili dinner, awards and meeting program.
We hope to have a clear picture of this by late January.

• We can host the races (we are using electronic timing to allow all participants to spread out at the start)

1k Kids’ Run
2 mile Fun Run
8k Run (We will have overall and age group awards in the 8K)

• At this time we will host in person race bib pickup
• Members will have the opportunity to vote for the Directors and Officers.

 Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup will be held on race morning at the Papillion Landing starting at 10:00 am.
We will have plenty of space so everyone will have the ability to spread out and maintain social distance.
All participants and guests are required to wear masks when indoors at the Papillion Landing.

2 mile Fun Run 11:00 am
8k Run 11:05 am

Chiller Challenge shirts and sweatshirts are preorder only! Must be ordered online by 1-22-21.

14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over
• Medals for Kids’ Run participants (12 and under)
• No awards in the 2-mile Fun Run
