About the Digicel Virtual 5K

We’re navigating a new, digital way of life as the world adjusts to the COVID-19 pandemic. As we step into our new normal, Jamaica’s Special Needs community needs our support more than ever.

The Digicel Jamaica Foundation remains committed to creating a world where no one gets left behind, and that starts by enhancing access to institutions and services for our Special Needs persons across the island. The Digicel 5K Run for Special Needs - now a virtual run – will, for the 9th year, raise funds and increase awareness for Jamaica’s Special Needs groups. Join the Digicel Foundation and Running Events Jamaica as we impact lives: register and donate now!

Since the event’s inception, over J$61.5 million (US$410,000) has been raised through the Digicel 5K and donated to Special Needs beneficiaries across Jamaica. From infrastructural and development upgrades to providing scholarships, your participation is a part of changing lives! With your help, these organisations can continue to do exceptional work for those with a variety of a disabilities and Special Needs.

How does the Digicel Virtual 5K work?

Register and pay online by October 16. Once your registration is processed (but not before October 1), you’ll receive an email with your personalized virtual bib to download, print and share. Then, simply complete the 5K distance any day and anywhere during the race period of October 1 - 31. Remember to record your time, then submit it using the results submission link provided in your registration e-package. Look out for your finisher certificate, signed by Jamaican Olympians and Digicel ambassadors: Usain Bolt, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Briana Williams. Participants will also receive a commemorative finisher medal, which will be mailed 3 - 6 weeks post-race. Make sure to follow us on social media to receive training tips, to learn about our beneficiaries, and more.

The Digicel Jamaica Foundation - www.digicelfoundation.org

Our vision is to help create a world where no one gets left behind. Fully supported by everyone in Digicel, over the last 13 years the Digicel Foundation has completed 1,173 projects and helped over 623,000 people in Jamaica. Concentrating on the areas of education, special needs and community empowerment, we work with communities to develop and implement meaningful interventions. To date, we are delighted to have given back over US$33 million islandwide.

The Foundation’s programmes seek to impact key markers of social and economic development. We achieve this by partnering with governmental and non-governmental organisations, communities as well as individuals to provide critical tools of upliftment that will deliver a measurable impact to the most challenged and disenfranchised citizens. By tapping into community roots and expanding opportunities, we are able to positively impact lives in a sustainable way.
